BlackBerry announced the development of a system that would help her forget the past and deal with the development of a new direction. Canadian company directed its efforts toward the “Internet of things”, which covers everything from watches to cars. In this area of the business has already invested German Bosch .

BlackBerry is preparing a project code-named Project Ion, in which the plan to create a cloud platform that corporate customers can use to collect data from smart devices and their processing in real time. The project also involves networking between companies, developers and other market participants, says PhysOrg.

Cheaper communication, develop plug technology, a new market – the market “Internet of things.” Every day billions of compounds generate trillions of operations and exabytes of data. All this requires a reliable platform to work on a global scale – says CEO John Chen BlackBerry.

“Internet of Things” involves the interaction of all sorts of electronic devices with each other or with the environment. Project Ion goal is to provide safe access to large amounts of data from various sources and analytical tools, and then convert the data into useful information in the form of specific solutions.

This initiative may help to get into BlackBerry trend and compensate for the lost earlier position. In the past, the company ceded the smartphone market from Apple and Android-device manufacturers.
