Today we have review and unboxing of ultra-budget tablet called ONDA V80. New device comes with 8.0-inch display, Android 7.0 Nougat system and 16GB of storage. Earlier there was Onda V80 SE with Intel BayTrail Z3735F processor and Android 5.1 Lollipop. New version ONDA V90 is a good tablet for those who do not need Windows, but display and internal memory are really important.
Usually, modern tablets with 2GB of RAM run on dual-boot Windows and Android. However, I think that you don’t need Windows system for 8-inch tablet. Android OS provides all necessary functions and features to watch movies, play games and work with documents.
As a result, we have ONDA V80 with very attractive price tag $80. So, let’s start our review with specification list.

ONDA V80: Unboxing
The package says that it is budget device. Inside the box, you can find the tablet itself, microUSB cable, user manual and guarantee card. That is all! It seems that manufacturer forgot about power adapter or charger.
ONDA V80: Design
Onda V80 tablet is available in two colors for front panel: Sapphire Blue and Pink. The rear panel is always white. I have a sapphire color option, and it looks like this:
The paint has shiny blotches, so it can be described as metallic.
The front panel has a protective film. In the center of the screen there is front camera; to the right of it there is LED charge indicator. LED surprised by its size – this is not just a small point; it is a whole circle! It lights only in red and only during charging.
On the right side, there are a power button and a volume rocker, just like regular smartphone.
On the left you can find a slot for microSD cards up to 256GB.
At the top there are headset jack, microUSB port with OTG support, a separate jack for connecting the charger, as well as external speaker.
The back of the tablet is made of thick plastic with a small diagonal pattern. There you can see 2MP main camera.
As for ergonomics, Onda V80 tablet is quite light, and it is comfortable to hold with one hand.
ONDA V80: Display
Unfortunately, my photos don’t show the real picture, but I want to note the display is the main feature of Onda V80. It has 8-inch diagonal and Full HD resolution. The brightness is average, but it’s enough for work.
Among the advantages is OGS technology. It seems that there is not even a glass between you and the picture. The screen supports up to five simultaneous touches – more than enough for any modern games and apps.
The viewing angles are nice; the screen does not suffer from color changes or a drop in contrast, even at maximum angles.
ONDA V80: Operating system
As you probably remember, Onda V80 tablet has one operating system – Android 7.0 Nougat. The manufacturer didn’t change user interface, but it added its own themes, a set of wallpapers and several applications, including MXPlayer, Kingsoft Office and some apps in Chinese that are easily removed if desired. Google Play Store is available.
The tablet perfectly copes with the interface processing – everything works quite clearly and smoothly.
You can receive firmware OTA updates “over the air”. However, if necessary you need to update via cable or memory card.
When you connect the tablet by cable to a computer, it is displayed as a media device. In this mode, you can work with tablet like a regular flash drive.
ONDA V80: Hardware and Performance
The tablet is built on Allwinner A64 quad core chipset with 1.3GHz. This is entry-level processor with high-efficiency power. It is quite old, about two years, but it is still used in budget devices even today.
Onda V80 tablet scores about 55000 points in AnTuTu. It is really good result for $80 tablet.
Despite its very low price, Onda V80 is also suitable for games.
You can comfortable play in most modern games. For example, Real Racing 3 and Modern Combat 5 run very good without any problems.
Of course, it’s hard to play very heavy games on high graphics settings, but again you should not forget about its price. Therefore, you will have to use medium or low settings in heavy games.
ONDA V80: Battery life
As you probably remember from specifications list, Onda V80 tablet is equipped with 4200mAh battery. The tablet has compact display and not very powerful chipset. Out tests show that you can play online video with medium brightness for about 5 hours. If you play online games, then you have about 2.5 hours, and 3 hours with turned off Wi-Fi.
ONDA V80: Camera
I do not know why manufacturers continue to equip the tablets with cameras, but even the most budget ones have them. Onda V80 has 2MP rear camera and 0.3MP front camera. Of course, their quality is very bad, but you can use them for video communication.
The main problems of Onda V80 is battery life and cameras, however, it comes with 8-inch Full HD display and good performance! You can use the tablet as external flash drive.
