The smartphone can easily cope with all everyday tasks. The graphics chipset allows to run any Androidgames on low or medium graphics settings without any problems.
As for RAM, there are two options – 3GB or 4GB. This is enough for the phone to work smoothly and quickly. It is able to cope with several dozen apps at the same time.
Xiaomi Redmi S2: Camera
Perhaps, the camera is the main improvement of Redmi S2. Firstly, there is dual rear camera with 12MP sensor and 5MP sensor. It says that new phone can take photos with blurred background, i.e. bokeh mode. Also, it has electronic image stabilization.
The front camera is even more interesting, because it has 16MP sensor. However, we do not know about pixel size, aperture, sensor type, etc. But we know Xiaomi, and Redmi S2 should have really good selfie camera.
Also, it has face unlock function. As the practice shows, the function works well in good lighting, but if it’s bad you may have some problems.
Xiaomi Redmi S2: Design
If we talk about design of new Xiaomi phone, it is not surprising. We already have real photos and videos. Xiaomi Redmi S2 looks like a mix of Redmi Mi 6X and Redmi 5 Plus.
It has thin bezels around the display, while the back side is made of metal. There is dual vertical camera and fingerprint reader.
Now, let’s compare Xiaomi Redmi S2 with very similar devices from the same price category: Xiaomi Mi A1, Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus, Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X.
Xiaomi Mi A1, Redmi 5 Plus, Redmi Note 4X – Comparison with Redmi S2
Xiaomi Mi A1
Xiaomi Redmi 5 Plus
Xiaomi Redmi Note 4X
These three devices have absolutely the same hardware as the Xiaomi Redmi S2. As already mentioned, Snapdragon 625 is mid-range processor, and it is good for most users. Yes, it may be old for some tasks, but nevertheless, it proved itself very well. It is stable and energy-efficient.
If you compare the screens, then all these phones have a better image quality than Xiaomi Redmi S2. It has a diagonal screen of 6 inches, but HD+ resolution. Most likely, the user will see the pixels and not too saturated image.
The cameras in these three smartphones are pretty good. Xiaomi Mi A1 and Redmi 5 Plus have the same OmniVision OV12A10 sensor. The pixel size is 6.4 mm, and the aperture is f/2.2. The photos are good enough, but only with good lighting. Since the diaphragm is small, it captures less light. Colors are quite rich and high detail images.
Xiaomi Mi A1 phone receive additional 12MP sensor. Thanks to it, the smartphone is able to shoot with bokeh mode.
Redmi Note 4X has sensor from Sony IMX258. Its pixel size is smaller, but the aperture is larger. In principle, the photos also are quality and saturated, only a little less detail.
If we talk about the camera in Xiaomi Redmi S2, then we can assume that it will be the same as on Redmi Note 4X, since this is a budget phone.
Redmi 5 Plus and Note 4X have 1000mAh more battery capacity, than other devices. But if you take into account the good energy efficiency of processor, then 3080mAh will be enough to make Redmi S2 work more than a day.
