ZTE Nubia Red Devil REVIEW: boom on the market of gaming smartphones!

As you may remember, in 2016-2017 the phone manufacturers start using dual rear cameras. From the beginning of 2018 there is a new trend on smartphone market with bezel-less design, or thin bezels around the display. Now it is very difficult to find new phone with 16:9 aspect ratio, because most of them use 18:9 aspect ratio display. Also 2018 began with the notch smartphones, or the Chinese copies of iPhone X. There are many reasons to criticize the latest trends, but I am happy that phone market continues to develop.

It seems that 2018 will have another trend – gaming smartphones. On April 13 Xiaomi company announced its Black Shark gaming phone, while ZTE plans to release its gaming smartphone Nubia Red Devil on April 19th. We already know many details about new device, and we are ready to share latest information with you.

So far, there is not much to say about the design of ZTE Nubia Red Devil, because we don’t know how the smartphone will look like. We saw the first prototype of ZTE gaming phone 2018 at the the exhibition Mobile World Congress 2018 in Barcelona. However, in a couple days after MWC 2018 everyone forgot about Nubia Red Devil.

If we look at smartphone at MWC 2018, its design reminds some kind of sports car. I don’t know why gaming smartphone should look like space ship, but actually I like it.

The body of smartphone will be made of carbon nanomaterials, which will give the device a special charm and appearance. Like other gaming smartphones from other companies, Nubia Red Devil will support different game accessories, such as gamepads.

ZTE Nubia Red Devil: Hardware

New smartphone will have OLED panel with refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. As you know, in 2017 a similar frequency of refresh rate was available only on IPS panels, but today the manufacturers learned how to increase it on other panels.

The general director of Nubia on MWC 2018 said that gaming phone will receive the most powerful hardware at the time of release. It means that Nubia Red Devil will be equipped with flagship processor Snapdragon 845, 8 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of storage. In addition, Nubia Red Devil will also have liquid cooling system.

Nubia Red Devil: Release date and price

ZTE company plans its presentation on April 19, so we think that this is the official release date Nubia Red Devil. The first rumors say that the price of new ZTE gaming phone will be around $600.  You know that Razer Phone starts from $900, while Xiaomi Black Shark costs about $500. So, new ZTE gaming phone will be competitor to Black Shark from Xiaomi.
