Xiaomi, Huawei, Oppo – these are the leading phone manufacturers in China. They produce they interesting gadgets for affordable price. However, today we will not talk about smartphones of this top three, because none of them has rugged devices. Perhaps, the mose popular manufacturer of rugged phones in China is Blackview.Blackview Bv5800 and Bv5800 Pro Review: two inexpensive secure smartphone

Blackview released two new rugged phones with good specifications, protected bodies, 18:9 displays and even wireless charging. Today we will talk about Blackview BV5800 and BV5800 Pro. Let’s start!

Blackview BV5800 and BV5800 Pro: Design

First, let’s look at design of new phones. According to standard of rugged cell phones, Blackview BV5800 and BV5800 Pro have massive cases made of plastic, metal and tempered glass. There is the most important thing – protection from water and dust according to IP68 standard.

The phones look very reliably, while the manufacturer did not forget about such an important detail as full screen. Blackview BV5800 and BV5800 Pro offer displays with 18:9 aspect ratio. The first thing you need from any modern smartphone.

By the way, these devices does not differ from each other at all. The main difference between BV5800 and BV5800 Pro is support wireless charging technology in Pro version.

The color of smartphones is classic – black, but there are elements of green and yellow colors. In addition, the metal inserts on the rear panel have dark gray or light gray color, and it really looks very interesting.

Blackview BV5800 and BV5800 Pro: Display

Since we have budget rugged phones with water and dust protection, then you should not expect something amazing. So BV5800 and its PRO version have displays with diagonal of 5.5 inches and aspect ratio of 18:9.

Also I want to note relatively thin bezels, HD+ resolution and 272 PPI pixel density. The display specs are quite good, because the same Xiaomi Redmi 5 has the same screen, and nobody complain about it.

Blackview BV5800 and BV5800 Pro: Hardware

These phones are powered by entry-level chipsets Mediatek MT6739 with a frequency of up to 1.5 GHz. Actually, the processor is not the most powerful, but it can be compared to Snapdragon 430. MT6739 is still the same MT6737, but the graphics accelerator Mali-T720 was replaced by a more powerful solution from PowerVR – GE8100. New graphics accelerator operates at a frequency of up to 600 MHz. It should help much in games, even on medium graphics settings.

The memory in both BV5800 and BV5800 Pro is the same – 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal. There is support for memory cards. From other side, I would like to see at least 3/32 GB of memory in Pro version.

Many modern Chinese phones don’t have NFC, thanks to which you can make contactless payment. Fortunately, BV5800 and its Pro version have NFC modules. In addition, smartphones work in 4G LTE Cat 5 networks, support Bluetoth 4.1, and run on latest Android 8.1 Oreo operating system.

Blackview BV5800 and BV5800 Pro: Camera

Both smartphones offer dual cameras from Sony. It’s another imporant thing you are waiting from modern phone.

The main sensor is Sony IMX134, and it has a resolution of 13MP (interpolated from 8MP), and secondary 0.3MP sensor (interpolated to 5MP). Of course, you should not wait high-quality portrait photos on these devices, but images in good lighting conditions sould be good. By the way, the main sensor has f/2.0 aperture, and secondary – f/2.4. The maximum video recording is Full HD.

The front camera has 8MP sensor, and it should be enough for good selfies.

Blackview Bv5800 and Bv5800 Pro: Battery

Blackview smartphones are famous for their big batteries. In principle, all rugged phones from Blackview have big batteries.

Blackview BV5800 and BV5800 Pro offer 5580 mAh battery capacity. Also BV5800 Pro has wireless charging support up to 10W.  The battery life on both devices should be about 2-3 days. It is good result for modern phones.
