A couple of days ago, a new laptop from Chuwi was introduced. It is called Chuwi LapBook Plus. The laptop has several advantages compared with previous models. The new laptop is equipped with Intel processor, 15.6-inch screen with 4K resolution, 6 mm thin metal body and support of two SSD drives.
We will make the first review of Chuwi LapBook Plus and look at design, display, performance, as well as price and where to buy. As usual, let’s start with design.
Chuwi LapBook Plus: Design
The new Chuwi laptop looks very simple and stylish. The body of LapBook Plus is made of aluminum. The laptop comes only in gray matte color. You will not find any inscriptions on the back or front panels, except for the small Chuwi logo in the upper right corner.
The bezels around the display and keyboard are made of black plastic. One of the main features of Chuwi LapBook Plus is the body thickness. It is only 6 mm in the thinnest part.
Also, despite the body materials, the weight of laptop is only 1.5 kg. The size is 36.20 x 24.20 x 1.59 cm.
Now look at the side faces. On the right side there are USB 2.0 port, slot for TF memory card and 3.5 mm audio jack for headphones. Three more connectors are located on the left side: USB 3.0 port, Micro HDMI and DC connector for charging a laptop.
Using Micro HDMI connector, a laptop can be connected to projector, monitor or TV to watch movies on the big screen.
The keyboard is simple and intuitive. It has three small indicator lights that alert the user about battery status and connectivity. By the way, the keyboard has a backlight.
On the sides of the keyboard are two speaker grilles. It is very good location, especially if you like to work not at the table, but putting the laptop on your knees. No matter how you put it, the speakers do not close, and the sound is clear.
Chuwi LapBook Plus: Display
Chuwi LapBook Plus has a large 15.6-inch Full HD display. This IPS panel supports 3840 x 2160 pixels resolution. It is important to note that performance of laptop is enough to play video in 4K resolution.
The manufacturer claims that the panel has 100% coverage of sRGB gamut. The screen is perfect for playing games, watching videos or performing everyday tasks, as well as video editing or photo editing.
Chuwi LapBook Plus: Performance
As we wrote earlier, the new LapBook Plus laptop is powered by Intel Atom X7-E3950 processor. This is a quad-core chipset with a maximum clock speed of 2 GHz. Although the processor is quite old (presented at the end of 2016), it provides good performance and stable operation.
Intel HD Graphics 505 is responsible for graphics. As for the memory, the laptop is equipped with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal memory.
The hardware of Chuwi LapBook Plus allows you to run simple games and office apps. Of course, this is not a laptop for video and photo editing.
Another interesting feature of new Chuwi laptop is the support of the second SSD-drive format M.2. If this is not enough, you can use TF-memory card up to 128 GB. As we already said, there is a slot for memory cards on the right side.
The laptop runs on Windows 10 operating system. It supports Wi-Fi 802.11 A/B/G/N and Bluetooth 4.0.
2MP webcam is located above the display. As you understand, it is used for video calls.
Now let’s talk about battery. Chuwi LapBook Plus is equipped with a battery capacity of 36.5 W/h. The laptop lasts up to 9 hours when performing everyday tasks on a single charge. If you watch the video without stopping, the battery will be enough for 8 hours. This is an excellent result, given the size of the screen.
A full battery charge of LapBook Plus takes about 2 hours.
Chuwi LapBook Plus: Price
The first review shows that Chuwi LapBook Plus is another good laptop from the Chinese manufacturer. The quad-core processor and expandable memory allow you to use the laptop for everyday tasks as well as for work.
