Elephone U2 and A6 First REVIEW: Budget Triple Camera Smartphones!
Elephone is not very popular Chinese manufacturer, however it produces interesting smartphones. Yes, initially it often copies the design of popular flagships, but today it tries to create something unique. The specifications of smartphones are not as powerful as we would like, but they have its own design.
Recently Elephone took part in Chongqing International Mobile Phone Exhibtion, where the company introduced Elephone U2 and A6.
Each of them has interesting and modern features. First, they are equipped with triple cameras on the back. Secondly, Elephone U2 has retractable dual front camera. In this article we will make first review of new smartphone, talk about their features, price and where to buy.
Elephone U2: Specifications

Elephone U2: Performance
Perhaps we should start with performance of Elephone U2, because it is much more powerful than previous models. Unfortunately, we do not know all full specifications list, but there are some details.
Elephone U2 is powered by Helio P60 processor. It scores about 140 000 points in Antutu, which is a pretty good result. Of course, if you compare Helio P60 with a similar Snapdragon, then the Qualcomm will be better. However, Helio P60 is also not bad, and it is used by many Chinese companies. It provides good performance. It is able to cope with absolutely any tasks.
From other side, you should not expect high gaming performance. If you plan to play latest Android games, then you will have to lower the graphics settings. Then the frame rate will be acceptable, and the smartphone will not heat up after 20 minutes of gaming.
Elephone U2 has a lot of RAM, as much as 6GB of type LPDDR4X. The smartphone runs on the latest operating system Android 9.0 Pie.
Elephone U2: Display
Elephone company decided to make bezel-less display by making the front camera retractable. Honestly, I watched the video from the exhibition, this mechanism does not inspire any confidence. It doesn’t look reliably, and even in closed form it bulges noticeably.
The diagonal of the screen is 6.26-inches, while the resolution is Full HD+. Of course, this is IPS panel. Yes, it is good, great color and high viewing angles, but you can not wait for something very cool.
Elephone U2: Camera
Unfortunately, we cannot say anything about cameras of Elephone U2, because there is no information about them. We will know details about them only after the phone goes on sale.
Most likely, the camera will be multifunctional, like Galaxy A7 2018. One sensor will be the main one, another will be designed for portrait mode, and the third sensor will be for increasing the viewing angle.
Elephone U2: Battery
We know that Elephone U2 has a fairly large battery with capacity of 4000mAh. There is USB Type-C connector for charging. Also new smartphone has 3.5 mm audio jack.
Unfortunately, the price and release date Elephone U2 are unknown yet.
Elephone A6: Specifications

Elephone A6: Performance
The smartphone is equipped with mid-range chipset Helio P22. It scores about 75.000 points in AnTuTu benchmark, which is also not bad. However, everybody knows that it is absolutely impossible to trust the benchmark results, because in practice the performance can be much worse. But not in this case.
The games on Helio P22 run pretty well. The frame rate is always stable and the smartphone is not very hot, although the graphics settings still have to be reduced. There is 4GB of RAM, but this is enough for stable operation of smartphone and operating system.
The battery capacity of Elephone A6 is exactly the same as Elephone U2.
Elephone A6: Display
The big difference between Elephone U2 and A6 is in display. Elephone A6 has the same diagonal, but only HD+ resolution. The pixels will be clearly visible, while the image will not be as colorful as we would like.
Also, there is no retractable front camera. It is placed in a small droplet. The front camera is 13MP, while the rear camera is just like Elephone U2. It is triple 16MP + 2MP + 2MP.
As we can see, Elephone A6 is budget version of Elephone U2, and it will cost much less. Incidentally, the price and release date of this phone is also unknown. It is not clear why the manufacturer did not announce the release date.

Above you can see comparison table of Elephone U2 and Galaxy A7 2018, but now let’s go through the main points. First, the smartphones have similar performance, although the processors are different. Galaxy A7 2018 is a little better, since it is powered by Exynos 7 Octa 7885 chipset. But if we talk about everyday tasks, the user will not notice any difference.
The screen from Samsung is also better, because it is SuperAMOLED. The panel always conveys colors better and has a deep black color. Also, it is more energy efficient and consumes much less battery. The battery capacity of Galaxy A7 2018 is only 3300mAh.
Yes, the triple camera in Samsung device is very good. It makes high-quality photos with natural color reproduction and high detail. Also, it is multifunctional, because 8MP sensor allows to increase the angle of capture, while 5 megapixels sensor provides bokeh effect or portrait mode.
As we already said, so far we haven’t information about Elephone U2 cameras, but most likely it will be worse than Samsung Galaxy A7 2018. The triple camera is just a marketing trick to increase sales.
The price of Galaxy A7 2018 starts from $300. If new smartphone from the Chinese will cost the same, then we strongly do not recommend buying it.
