Honor Play 4T and Honor Play 4T Pro: Are These Gaming Smartphones or Not?

Do you remember Honor Play? The smartphone was released in 2018. It was the first gaming budget smartphone from Huawei.

In March 2020, the Chinese manufacturer introduced the next generation of gaming smartphone, but with a very strange name – Honor Play 9A. This smartphone has Helio P35 processor, 6.3-inch HD+ display, 13MP + 2MP main camera, 4GB of RAM and 64/128GB of internal memory. Standard specifications list for a budget smartphone in 2020. Today it became known about two more budget gaming smartphones from Honor Play series – Honor Play 4T and Honor Play 4T Pro. I do not understand what happens to the names of smartphones of Huawei and Honor. Why Play 9A and Play 4T? What do these numbers mean?

Anyway, the announcement of Honor Play 4T and Honor Play 4T Pro is scheduled for April 9th. However, we already know all the details about the upcoming smartphones, including design and features. Let’s talk about them.

Design

Honor Play 4T and Honor Play 4T Pro will have different designs. Play 4T smartphone will come with hole-punch display, while Pro version has waterdrop notch above the screen. As for me, the hole in display screen looks better than waterdrop notch, so it’s weird that Honor Play 4T has it, but not Play 4T Pro.

Also, the back panel will be a little different. Honor Play 4T will have a dual main camera and a fingerprint scanner in the center of the back panel.

Honor Play 4T Pro will have the same basic camera design, but three sensors. It does not have a fingerprint scanner on the back panel. It can be built into the side face or under the display.

Both smartphones have USB Type-C ports and 3.5mm audio jacks. The Pro version will support microSD memory cards.

Display

Now let’s talk about screens. It is reported that Honor Play 4T Pro will have 6.3-inch display with Full HD+ resolution. Again, the situation is strange because Honor Play 4T will have a screen slightly larger screen – 6.39-inches, and HD+ resolution. Usually the Pro version comes with a bigger display, but here it’s the opposite.

Performance

When it comes to performance, we only know about the processor in Honor Play 4T Pro. The smartphone will be equipped with Kirin 810. It is possible that Honor Play 4T will run on the same processor. It is not reported yet.

The Pro version will also have 6GB or 8GB of RAM and 128GB or 256GB of internal memory. As you can see, we know more details about Honor Play 4T Pro than Honor Play 4T.

As for Honor Play 4T, there is only information about one version with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of ROM.

Both smartphones will run on the latest version Android 10 operating system.

Camera

When it comes to cameras, as I said before, Honor Play 4T will come with a dual camera on the rear panel: 48 MP main sensor and 2 MP depth sensor. The front camera has 8 megapixel resolution.

Pro model will have three sensors on the rear panel: the same 48 MP main sensor and 2 MP depth sensor, but 8 MP wide-angle sensor. Yes, you will be able to take wide-angle photos on Honor Play 4T Pro. I think that’s a really useful feature.

In addition, Pro version will have 16 megapixel front camera.

Battery

Both new Honor smartphones will be equipped with 4000 mAh batteries. It is known that Honor Play 4T Pro will support fast charging of 22.5W. Most likely, Honor Play 4T will also get it.

What’s Price of Honor Play 4T Pro?

The price of new Huawei smartphones is not unveiled. However, the official announcement will be held very soon – April 9.

Judging by specifications, it will be two budget smartphones. I think that Honor Play 4T will cost about $100, and Pro version – $130.

However, knowing Huawei and Honor, the smartphones may be a little overpriced. When they are officially introduced, I will update the information and also add links where you can buy them.
