Review Huawei Honor 6a Pro and 6c Pro: New Budget Phones – Price, Release date, Specs
Not only Xiaomi realeses good budget smartphones. For some people it may be a shock, but a subbrand of Huawei called Honor also makes very good cheap phones.
Today we review Honor 6C Pro and Honor 6A Pro. The smartphones will go on sale very soon, but right now we know some interesting details about them. In general, we can say that these are two phones are good alternatives to Xiaomi devices.
Since today we have review Pro versions of two budget devices, we will compare them with their predecessors to find out main changes with Huawei Honor 6a and 6c.
Huawei Honor 6a Pro review
Design
Huawei does not hide the fact that it is proud of design of its new products, because they are made of metal. However, Honor 6a Pro is not all-metal, there are plastic inserts, but it has high build quality.
Interestingly, the display is coved by flast protective glass, although today it is very popular to use 2.5D rounded glass. Because of this, Honor 6a Pro looks less attractive.
Although the bezels around the display are not so thin, navigation buttons in Honor 6a Pro are onscreen. The bottom bezel has Honor logo. It is strange solution, because onscreen keys are not always and not everywhere hiding, so it is some discomfort.
The fingerprint reader is located at the back. There is no USB Type-C port, but here is 3.5 mm jack for headphones. We are really glad that manufacturer are not yet trying to get rid of 3.5 mm audio jack on budget and mid-range phones.
Honor 6a Pro: Hardware
Honor 6a Pro comes with 5-inch display and resolution of 720p. It is IPS Matrix, the viewing angles are good, but not maximum. By the way, the chipset is pleased, because the device is powered by Snapdragon 430 with eight cores Cortex-A53 and graphics Adreno 505. The maximum frequency of cores reaches 1.4 GHz and this is quite enough. Also smartphone has 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. There is a slot for memory cards. Performance is typical for budget phones – 44000 points in Antutu.
Honor 6a Pro:
We know that modern budget phones have really decent cameras. Honor 6a Pro is a good example of this. The specs on paper are not impressive (13MP and f/2.2), but in practice the photos are very good. The front camera is also good – 5MP and f/2.2.
Honor 6a Pro: Battery
The battery capacity is 3020 mAh. You can say that it is small battery, but EMUI is optimized well, while hardware and screen are quite weak, so the battery life should be good. You can expect about two days of battery life Honor 6a Pro.
Honor 6a Pro compare with Honor 6a
Usually Pro version has some significant changes. For example, the manufacturer uses a more powerful chipset, more memory, better camera and so on. But in this case almost nothing has changed. Honor 6a comes with both 2/16 GB of memory and 3/32 GB, while Honor 6a Pro has just 3/32 GB version.
So, if you already have Honor 6a, you can say that you are the owner of Pro version.

So, Honor 6A Pro is not well balanced smartphone, because it has some big pros and cons:
- + compact body, good hardware, display, photo quality, good software optimization;
- – on-screen buttons, the volume of external speaker.
Honor 6C Pro review
The smartphone Honor 6c is essentially the same Honor 6a Pro. It has the same display, memory, almost the same processor (Snapdragon 435 is equipped with faster modem with support for LTE Cat.6 networks), a similar battery and body materials. And it’s a bit strange that Honor 6a Pro is not different from Honor 6a and only slightly differs in design with Honor 6c. At the same time, Honor 6c Pro was still somewhat different, as evidenced by the improved design, new processor and improved front camera.
Honor 6c Pro: Design
Externally Honor 6c Pro is difficult to distinguish from Honor 6c, if you do not look at the details or simply do not hold it in your hands. The predecessor has all the same plastic inserts in metal body with a similar arrangement of the camera, reader and flash. However, its rear panel on the sides is more rounded than Honor 6c Pro. Due to the sharper angles new smartphone looks more solid, although I repeat, perhaps it is the only difference between the models. Honor 6c Pro is slightly more than its predecessor due to bigger display.
It does not make sense to talk about display Honor 6c Pro, because it is the same as Honor 6a Pro, only more by 0.2 inches.
Honor 6c Pro: Performance
More interesting part is chipset. This smartphone is powered by Mediatek MT6750 instead of Snapdragon 435. However, both chisets provide almost the same performance: the maximum frequency of Cortex-A53 cores has increased to 1.5 GHz, and the minimum has dropped to 1.0 GHz. The process technology is still the same 28 nm, but the graphics are quite different – Mali-T860 MP2. The graphics accelerator is weaker than Adreno 505. Antutu test confirms it, because its result drops from 46000 to 37000 pints. When you use the smartphone, you will not notice the difference with Honor 6c, but in heavy games you can see the drawdowns of FPS. Honor 6c Pro is equipped with 3/32 GB memory and support for memory cards.
Honor 6c Pro: Camera
The camera Honor 6c Pro has a resolution of 13 megapixels and it is no different from the one in Honor 6a Pro. The quality of the images directly depends on lighting, because the sunny day you can get a sharp and bright picture, but in cloudy weather or indoors you will have to try to take good picture.
Front camera has a resolution 8MP, although we think that it takes the same photos as Honor 6A Pro.
Honor 6c Pro: Battery
The battery life Honor 6C Pro is about two days of average using. The battery capacity is 3000 mAh, there is no fast charging.
By the way, Honor 6c Pro costs just $20 more than Honor 6a Pro, although in fact its specifications (mainly due to the processor) are worse. The only advantage of the smartphone is more attractive design with 2.5D glass and neat plastic inserts.
Honor 6c Pro compare with Honor 6c
Choosing between Honor 6c and Honor 6c Pro you should decide for yourself: either you need a more attractive design, or you want more poweful hardware. Yes, they differ slightly among themselves, however, Honor 6c is still more powerful due to graphics accelerator, and the speed of RAM is higher.
We cannot say that Honor 6c Pro deserves Pro, because nothing is improved, and it has become even weaker. The difference in diagonal of the display 0.2 inches is almost irrelevant, since the display of Honor 6c Pro is wider. The front camera of 5MP shows the the same quality as 8MP, and no one will notice the difference on the smartphone’s display.
Since the price tag for smartphones does not differ too much, it’s more logical to buy Honor 6c on Snapdragon 435.

A smartphone can be safely recommended for purchase, but it is worth taking into account its pros and cons:
