Today, March 14, the official presentation of Huawei Nova 4e will take place. This model is designed for the Chinese market. The smartphone will be released on international market under the name Huawei P30 Lite.
Also, yesterday another interesting smartphone went on sale in India – Redmi Note 7 Pro. Judging by official images and specifications, Huawei Nova 4e and Redmi Note 7 Pro have a lot in common, so we decided to compare the main specifications of these devices.
Let’s start the first review of Huawei Nova 4e, and compare design, performance, cameras, batteries and prices of Huawei and Xiaomi smartphones.
Huawei Nova 4e: Design
Huawei Nova 4e and Redmi Note 7 Pro have a very similar design. Both smartphones have received bezel-less display and waterdrop notch for selfie camera. The side and top bezels are very thin, while bottom “chin” is a little bigger.
The dimensions of Huawei Nova 4e are 152.9 x 72.7 x 7.4 mm. As you can see, it is quite compact device, and it has a slim body.
Huawei smartphone will be available in white, black and blue colors. All models have gradient back panels, so they will shine beautifully in the sun. On the other hand, most likely, you will use a silicone case to protect the smartphone, so color of back panel doesn’t matter.
The only noticeable difference in design of Huawei Nova 4e and Redmi Note 7 Pro is the main camera. As you can see, Redmi Note 7 Pro has a dual main camera, while the rear camera of Huawei device consists of three sensors. They are located in the upper left corner.
Also, the smartphones have a round fingerprint reader in the center.
Smartphones have logos of their manufacturers, but Huawei logo is in the bottom left corner, while Redmi is in the center of back panel.
The Huawei Nova 4e has a 3.5mm audio jack on the bottom edge, so you can listen to music through your favorite wired headphones.
Below is also a USB Type-C port. The power button and volume rocker, as usual, are located on the right side. By the way, Huawei smartphone does not support microSD. You can only use internal memory.
As for case materials of Huawei Nova 4e and its screen protection, there is no information, but the back panel looks like glass.
Huawei Nova 4e: Display
The displays of new Huawei and Redmi smartphones are also almost identical. Huawei Nova 4e received a large IPS display with a diagonal of 6.15-inches. Its resolution is 1080 x 2312 pixels. The screen to body ratio is 84.2%. As we already said, we don’t know about screen protection of Huawei Nova 4.
Redmi Note 7 Pro has a slightly larger display – 6.3-inches. This is the same IPS screen with the same resolution.
Huawei Nova 4e or Redmi Note 7 Pro: Performance
Now let’s compare the performance of our heroes. Huawei Nova 4e is powered by Hisilicon Kirin 710. It consists of eight cores with 12nm process technology. The processor is used in mid-range smartphones and tablets. We should say that it was presented in early 2018, more than one year ago.
The processor has four Cortex-A73 cores with a clock frequency of up to 2.2 GHz and four energy-efficient Cortex-A53 cores with a frequency of 1.7 GHz. Graphic processor is Mali-G51 MP4.
Yesterday, we received GeekBench test result for new Huawei smartphone. As you can see on the image above, Huawei Nova 4e scores 1513 points in single-core test and 4955 points in multi-core test.
Redmi Note 7 Pro has a new Qualcomm Snapdragon 675 processor, which was introduced in late 2018. It is also used in mid-range devices.
Huawei Nova 4e will be available in two versions: 4GB or 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal memory. As we already said, the smartphone does not support microSD cards.
Both smartphones come with Android 9.0 Pie operating system, but different user interfaces. As usual, Xiaomi phone runs on MIUI 10, while Huawei Nova 4e – EMUI 9.
Also, there is support for wireless networks Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth. Unfortunately, NFC function is not available on both smartphones.
Huawei Nova 4e: Battery
As for the battery, Redmi Note 7 Pro clearly beats Huawei Nova 4e. Xiaomi phone has 4000mAh battery, and it also supports fast charging Quick Charge 4 18W. These are very good specs for an inexpensive smartphone.
Huawei Nova 4e has smaller battery – 3300mAh. We don’t know about fast charging support, but most likely it will be, because the phone has USB Type-C port.
Huawei Nova 4e: Camera
It is still difficult to choose which smartphone has a better camera, because we have not yet seen real photos from Huawei Nova 4e. However, let’s compare the specifications of smartphones.
Huawei phone has a triple camera on the back. The main sensor has a resolution of 24 megapixels, the second sensor is 8 megapixels and the third is 2 megapixels.
Redmi Note 7 Pro received dual main camera, but the sensors are amazing! The main sensor is 48MP, while the second 5MP sensor is used for depth effect. Below you can see sample photos taken on Redmi Note 7 Pro.
Front cameras are also significantly different, but here is a completely different winner. Redmi Note 7 Pro is equipped with 13MP front camera, while new Huawei smartphone comes with 32MP selfie camera.
As we have already said, Huawei Nova 4e has not yet been officially presented, and we have not yet seen any real photos, so we cannot conclude about camera of this smartphone.
Huawei Nova 4e: Price
Perhaps the main factor when choosing a smartphone is the price. The price of Huawei Nova 4e is not yet known, because the smartphone is not yet officially presented. However, some sources say about the price tag of $300. Redmi Note 7 Pro went on sale in India for only $200.
We wonder why smartphones have such a big difference in price – as much as $100 – although they have quite similar design and specifications. Huawei Nova 4e must cost $200-250 to compete with Redmi Note 7 Pro, otherwise it will have little chance.
In any case, we have two amazing smartphones. It’s hard to imagine something like that a year or two ago in this price category. Huawei Nova 4e and Redmi Note 7 Pro have very good features, and both deserve attention.
