About two years ago, the situation around the HTC was complex and full of uncertainties, with the release of HTC One (M7) business began to build, and with a new One (M8) were hoping for out of the crisis. The unit is not without flaws, but still pretty darn good and charisma. However, what makes HTC in the middle segment, personally, I have somewhat puzzling. It would seem, then, here it is, the recipe for the company – do cool, original, powerful flagship, it works best to HTC, again and again. But again and again the company crushes lineup, introducing similar to each other model in the middle and low-end segment. This entry I literally “boiling”, and Desire 820 just was the last straw, so I wanted to say. While that in itself is not the device has turned bad, no.

The new Desire has 820 design. Someone might say that this is a remnant of the plastic in the style iPhone 5c, but for me, the smartphone recognizable “face”. More in HTC Desire 816 company has tested this solution with a “soap”, a smooth design and gloss, and, surprisingly, all the elements have been completed and are arranged so that through plastic Desire 816 did not look cheap and nasty. Same story with the Desire 820, in the end, this smartphone looks completely repeats the previous model. Bicolor body, lots of choices of colors, beat flowers camera module connectors and keys – just a smartphone can not be called boring.

At the same time, HTC Desire 820 is huge, and this fact can not call it a smartphone, perhaps it is something out of the category of “fabletov.” Speaking of the screen diagonal, then there are other devices with 5.5 ‘panels, but the same LG G3, for example, against HTC Desire 820 is compact, and the diagonal of the screen – the same.

In his hand the smartphone is not very comfortable, again, because of the size and glossy plastic. You can get used, but note this feature I think is necessary.

By Features HTC Desire 820 closely follows the previous model (816). Screen 5.5 ‘with a resolution of 1280×720 pixels, two SIM-cards, support LTE, 2600 mAh battery, 13 megapixel main camera. Change platform, it uses the new 64-bit platform Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 has 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal. In Desire 816 was 1.5 GB and 8 GB, respectively. Increased resolution of the front camera, 8 MP vs 5 MP in the previous apparatus, but also without autofocus.

From his elder brother, HTC One (M8), the smartphone got stereo speakers (BoomSound) and the proprietary interface HTC Sense 6, the rest of the device – middling.

Together with sales of smartphones the company plans to begin selling corporate cover for him, HTC Dot View, also inherited the older model, by the way. The system itself has been improved Dot View now covers “know how” to display more information and to respond to the increasing number of gestures.

The company did not say when the smartphone will be available and at what price. It is clear that this price will be determined by the success or failure of the model, but it certainly can say one thing – the market HTC Desire 820 will not be easy. The phone is not bright distinctive features, it is too large even for a device with a screen diagonal of 5.5 ‘, a 64-bit platform does not give any obvious advantages over conventional models on platforms and more to catch here without thinking there is nothing.

IFA 2014. HTC Desire 820

I like the products of the company HTC, but as I said above, the situation in the middle segment for HTC constantly unstable. If the top-end devices is more or less well, in the middle segment of the episodes of successful smartphones (HTC Desire S, HTC One mini) alternate with obscure models produced except for the range. Personally, I do not see HTC Desire 820 for something that would call it an important building block in the model number of the company.
