Last year, Meizu company, despite all its efforts, could not surprise the public, and its fans slowly to chane devices to competitors. Even the flagships Meizu Pro 7/7 Plus with two displays and dual cameras quickly went into the shadows.
However, by the end of 2017, the Chinese brand had come to its senses and began to catch up. The first attempt was Meizu M6 Note on Snapdragon 625 processor. The device was not only the first smartphone from Meizu with Qualcomm processor, but also good front and back cameras.
The company decided not to stop and the other day it presented a very interesting smartphone called Meizu M6S. It received a very powerful processor from Samsung, full screen display with thin bezels and fingerprint reader on the side face.
Today we received confirmation of next smartphones Meizu 15 and 15 Plus. According to the latest data, Meizu 15 will be equipped with new Snapdragon 660, while Plus version will get flagship chipset Snapdragon 835.
Meizu 15 and Meizu 15 Plus: Design
Both devices are at the final stage of development, so they will be presented very soon. We already have first live photos of new smartphones.
As you can see from the photos, Meizu is preparing two full screen devices, but not bezel-less. In front you can see a full screen display with a diagonal of 5.7 inches in Meizu 15 version and 6-inch screen with 18:9 aspect ratio for Meizu 15 Plus.
Moreover, all four sides of displays will receive 3D frames, as top-end smartphone Galaxy Note 8. On the upper small bezel there will be a speaker and a front camera. On the bottom bezel there will be mBack button with built-in fingerprint reader. As you can see, the version of the virtual key Super mBack will not be introduced everywhere and the mechanic will meet even in flagships.
The back panel of Meizu 15/15 Plus will be made of metal with thin plastic inserts. Also we can see dual camera and LED flash.
In general: the design of new Meizu phones is very attractive and obviously not copied from competitors. Naturally, some moments are borrowed, but the overall picture pleases the eye.
Meizu 15 and Meizu 15 Plus: Display
As for the displays of upcoming smartphones, there is really nothing to talk about. However, the most important thing is their diagonals. Meizu 15 will receive 5.7-inch screen, and 15 Plus will have 6-inch display. The resolution for them should be the same – Full HD+. The type of matrices nothing is reported.
However, since Meizu will have a anniversary, and therefore Meizu 15 and Meizu 15 Plus are very important smartphones for the company, we can expect OLED in both devices.
At the same time, we are sure about processor options for new products. Earlier it was reported that Samsung Exynos chipset will be used for new smartphones, but now everything is clear. So, Meizu 15 will get Snapdragon 660 processor. It is new and productive processor that can be compared to Snapdragon 820. Meizu 15 Plus will have Snapdragon 835. We think it doesn’t need explanation.
As for the memory, there is no official information, but you can expect from 4 to 6 GB of RAM and from 32 to 128 GB of internal memory.
Meizu 15 and Meizu 15 Plus: Camera
As you can see from the photos, there will be three cameras in new smartphones: two on the back and a single front camera. We don’t know sensors yet. The smartphones can have sensors from Samsung or Sony.
The latest smartphones Meizu M6 Note and M6S have high-quality cameras, so we don’t have doubt that Meizu 15 or 15 Plus will take good photos. In addition, we can expect an optical or at least an advanced electronic image stabilizer.
For the front camera we expect 16-megapixel sensors, just like Meizu M6 Note.
Other specifications Meizu 15 and 15 Plus: sound quality, battery capacity, IP68 rating, etc. are unknown at all, so we are waiting for the next leaks and rumors.
Meizu 15 and 15 Plus: Release date and price
It is expected that new devices from Chinese manufacturers will go on sale in March 2018. However, we already know their prices:
- Meizu 15 will cost 2000 yuan or $315;
- Meizu 15 Plus will cost 3500 yuan or $545.
To be honest, we don’t trust information about prices, but if new smartphones really have the similar prices, then Meizu 15 looks very attractive, but Meizu 15 Plus is very expensive, because today the flagships on Snapdragon 835 will cost at least $100-150 less.
