Packaging
Doogee BL5000 comes in a black box with phone image on the front. We immediately understand that it is BL5000 model . On the reverse side there is a sticker with specifications list.
When open the box, we can see a smartphone in a bag. Under it are accessories such as Silicone Case, USB cable, power adapter, cloth, clip, and even more protective film, in addition to that already that on phone screen.
So, Doogee BL5000 comes with really good package. There is everything you need to use a smartphone, except, perhaps, earphones.
Design
Design is one of the main features Doogee BL5000. The smartphone stands out from its competitors, thanks to the maximum curved edges. Manufacturer decided to use 3D design on both front and back, so Doogee BL5000 received 8 curved sides.
Although the smartphone is thick (10.3 mm), it is easy to hold in one hand. We should note that Doogee BL5000 has a larger battery, so we can forgive its thickness.
Also, the smartphone can not be called light or compact. Its dimensions are 155.2×75.85×10.3mm and weighs 210 grams.
On the front panel there is 5.5-inch display, and above it you can find front-facing camera, LED flash, lighting and proximity sensors. Smartphone does not have a notification indicator, it is very pitty.
The home button under the screen has in-built fingerprint sensor.
On the rear panel there is a dual camera and LED flash between them. You can see Doogee logo at the bottom of the back.
Volume rocker and power keys are located on the right side, and slot for SIM and microSD memory cards are on the left.
3.5 mm audio jack is located on top and bottom – microUSB port and two speakers.
As you can see, the protective film does not cover the entire screen, because the smartphone has rounded edges on the left and right, so the film simply can not be securely attached. As a result, the protective film interferes with the use of the touch screen.
Interestingly, the silicone case has plugs for connectors to protect it from dust and water.

Doogee BL5000 is equipped with 5.5-inch display with resolution of Full HD and density of 401 ppi.
The display of this smartphone does not differ from many flagship devices. Even on a sunny day outside display is clearly visible.
Also, the screen is covered with oleophobic layer. It sounds awesome for a budget smartphone!
Also Doogee BL 5000 has a special mode of Eye Protection, which reduces eye strain. When you activate it, the smartphone filters blue color, and image becomes warmer.
Doogee BL5000: Performance
Doogee BL5000 is powered by one of the three new entry-level MediaTek chipsets – 64-bit MT6750T. Four of the eight processor cores work with a frequency of up to 1500 MHz, and the rest – up to 1000 MHz.
The smartphone also received the graphics accelerator ARM Mali-T860 MP2 and 4GB of RAM. It is very good hardware for budget smartphone, which allows it to easily cope with any everyday tasks.
64GB of storage is enough for personal data. We can say that Doogee BL5000 is one of the few budget smartphones that has so big storage. But if it doesn’t enough for you, you can use microSD memory card up to 128GB.

We did not have any problems with games. The smartphone launched popular Android games such as Asphalt 8: Airborn, Modern Combat, and others.
Software
Doogee BL5000 runs on Android 7.0 Nougat and Freeme UI on top. The launcher is really interesting. On the home screen, we were met by a cat or a robot (called Freeme Know), which provides access to the themes. You can disable this feature.
If you swipe to the right, you will see a news feed with different categories.
Launcher offers a very wide customization settings. You can change the font size, icons, animations, etc. The interface is fully translated into English, and we have not seen the Chinese characters.
In the settings you will also find additional options, for example, Smart Somatosensory, Gesture Motion, Gesture Unlock, One-handed Mode.
Doogee BL5000 does not have useless pre-installed Chinese applications. Instead, you get all Google applications, such as Play Store, YouTube, Maps and others, as well as the first file manager and DG Xender, which is designed for the wireless transmission of files.
By the way, with the first connection to Internet, we immediately received the first update by air. IT suggests that updates will be released in the future, perhaps even Android 8.0 Oreo.
We really liked the user interface Doogee BL5000, although generally we prefer to use stock Android. The interface works quickly and smoothly, and we have not detected any errors or braking.
Battery
The battery capacity of Doogee BL5000 is 5050 mAh. The smartphone is able to work for three days in a moderate mode. If you actively use a smartphone, then it will be enough for a full working day, which is also very good result.
We made some battery tests, and here are the results:
- video playback at full brightness and Flight mode – about 10 hours;
- games at medium brightness – about 5.5 hours.
Doogee BL5000 supports fast charging Mediatek PumpExpress 2.0. Power Adapter has 12V/2A. Full charge was 2 hours, which is quite good for such a large battery.
Doogee BL5000: Camera
Doogee BL5000 comes with a dual camera on the back with the same 13-megapixel sensor. There is bright LED flash and support for image stabilization.
The front camera with a resolution of 8 megapixels also has a flash. It helps to take good selfies, but in the dark you should be careful not to spoil the images with flash.
To take photos and video the smartphone uses brand application. From the quick settings on the main screen, there is only flash modes and switching between the main and front cameras.
Pro Mode gives you total control over the creative photo and can arbitrarily change the white balance, ISO, shutter speed and aperture.

Our hero supports wireless Wi-Fi networks only 802.11b/g/n standards. Also Doogee BL5000 is equipped with Bluetooth, HotKnot (NFC analogue of Mediatek) and FM-radio.
