Jumper EZPad 6 Plus: Unboxing

Jumper EZPad 6 Plus: Design

Judging by the tactile sensations, the body of Jumper EZpad 6 Plus is made of plastic with a pleasant to the touch texture. In general, the quality of product does not cause complaints. However, if the tablet is often transported in a bag with keys and other hard objects, the surface of its body will soon be covered with scratches. By the way, the problem is easily solved by purchasing a protective cover.

Almost all budget tablets have big bezels around the display. On the upper frame is front camera with resolution of 2 MP. The camera is suitable only for video communication. In the central part of the bottom frame is located a touch button with Windows logo.

On the back panel you can find a small oval-shaped protrusion that looks like a pad for the main camera module. In fact, there is the logo of series of hybrid devices “2-in-1” – EZpad.

On the top edge on the right side is placed a double rocker volume and a mechanical button for power/lock control.

Jumper EZPad 6 Plus: Interfaces, connectivity

Almost all tablets are much inferior to laptops in terms of  external interfaces. But some hybrid devices, including Jumper EZpad 6 Plus, the situation is somewhat different, because, unlike conventional tablets, they have more opportunities for connecting peripheral equipment.

This model provides a separate input for an external power source. During charging all three USB connectors (MicroUSB 2.0, Type-C 2.0 and full-sized USB 3.0) are available. The user can easily connect to the laptop several devices at the same time (for example, USB mouse, smartphone and external hard drive). In addition, there is Micro HDMI interface, through which you can broadcast an image from your tablet PC to an external monitor or TV screen.

Connectors DC-IN, USB and HDMI are located on the left side of the body, next to the speaker grille and LED indicator.

The right side has 3.5-mm headphone / microphone jack and a slot for Micro SD cards. There is also a hole with built-in microphone and a grille of the second speaker.

Jumper EZPad 6 Plus: Docking station with keyboard

The Plus version comes with docking station (without built-in battery), which connects to the device through two powerful magnets. Contacts and connection holes can be found on the bottom edge of the tablet body. We should say that the dock keyboard for Jumper EZpad 6 and its Plus version are not interchangeable, because of differences in the features of the fastening mechanism.

When you connect the dock station, the tablet actually transforms into full-featured laptop. It has physical keyboard, a small touchpad, an additional full-sized USB port, and an adapted OS interface for working in Desktop mode.

Jumper EZPad 6 Plus: Sound

Built-in stereo speakers show acceptable sound quality. In a noisy places you will most likely have to use headphones. In general, the sound is good for comfortable viewing of movies and videos in a small room.

Jumper EZPad 6 Plus: Display

The laptop has widescreen display with a diagonal of 11.6 inches, and resolution of FullHD (1920 x 1080). Thanks to IPS matrix, natural color reproduction and good viewing angles are provided. Even with significant slopes, the inversion of colors is almost imperceptible. The brightness range is suitable for comfortable indoor work, range from ~ 25-50%, depending on the intensity of the external light source. To work on the street, you need to set the brightness at 75-100%.

The touch panel of the screen recognizes up to 10 touches at the same time. Also there is very thin, almost invisible protective film. It provides a quality oleophobic coating. If desired, the film can be removed by taking care of an alternative solution to protect the glass from scratches.

Jumper EZPad 6 Plus: Operating system

The device comes with a pre-installed Windows 10 OS, with English language packs. A licensed, activated version of the software is used. In other words, the user receives a device that is “out of the box” ready for use. The operating system interface is automatically adapted for use in both landscape and portrait orientations. DualBoot, i.e., the ability to switch between Windows and Android, in this model is not provided.

Jumper EZPad 6 Plus: Performance

Jumper EZPad 6 Plus is equipped with 4-core Intel Celeron N3450 processor on Apollo Lake platform. The chipset runs at 1.1 GHz, and is complemented by the integrated graphics core Intel HD Graphics 500. Intel Celeron N3450 is a budget single-chip system, however, in terms of performance significantly exceeds Atom X5 z8300 / z8350 – quite common SoC on the Cherry Trail platform, used in hybrid tablets, transformers and entry-level mini-PCs.

In addition, Celeron N3450 has dual-channel DDR3L memory controller, with an impressive amount of RAM (6 GB). As a result, the device demonstrates a decent level of performance in the work, as well as well good multitasking. Jumper EZPad 6 Plus easily copes with a large number of open tabs in browser, great for working with office software and databases, watching 4K video, editing images, processing audio and other tasks for which you usually use relatively inexpensive laptops.

Jumper EZPad 6 Plus is not gaming tablet/laptop. At the same time, the power of built-in graphics subsystem is enough to run games released before 2007 (for example, GTA: San Andreas). Also, the laptop can easily cope with the launch of simple modern games, like Asphalt 8. By setting all graphics settings to minimum, you can even play in World of Tanks, with a frame rate of 30-40 FPS.

Jumper EZPad 6 Plus: Memory

Operating system files, programs and user data are located in  internal 64MB eMMC storage. At first glance, there is not much free space left. However, the device is equipped with a slot for microSD memory card up to 256 GB. It also supports connection of external HDD / SSD drives. For the test, a hard disk with a capacity of 2 TB was connected to the tablet via a high-speed USB 3.0 interface. The system easily recognized an external HDD without adding additional power.

In addition, the motherboard has M.2 (NGFF) connector for SSD. The interface is compatible with M.2 drives form factors 2242 and 2260, up to 512 GB. We should say that Jumper EZPad 6S Pro modification has built-in solid state SSD drive at 64 GB, in addition to the eMMC memory module.

Jumper EZPad 6 Plus: Battery

In comparison with its predecessor, Plus version received 3500 mAh battery. Tests show that battery life is about 4 hours of moderate using. We talk about browsing web pages, YouTube-clips and listening to music tracks. If you turn on power saving mode, and reducing the brightness of the screen to a minimum acceptable level, you can achieve even longer battery life.

The tablet has 12V adapter, which provides the fastest and most effective battery charging.

Note! Do not attempt to charge the EZPad 6 Plus through USB ports (Type-C). This can lead to equipment failure and other unforeseen consequences!

Jumper EZPad 6 Plus: Wireless Interfaces

The built-in network adapter provides access to Internet and a local wireless network via Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n. Wi-Fi signal is within normal limits, the antenna sensitivity is good, communication is not lost during operation. There is Bluetooth protocol version 4.0 support, which also does not have any problems.
