Samsung and SK Hynix will supply the memory HBM2 for Nvidia cards
Contrary to previous rumors, Nvidia graphics accelerator family Pascal will be used HBM-memory is the second generation of Samsung and SK Hynix. This is reported by Korean media quoted industry sources.
Using technology Through Silicon Via (TSV) to accommodate multiple stacks of memory on a single chip HBM can increase the speed of four to eight times as compared with GDDR5. The amount of energy consumed at the same time reduced 40%, and second-generation chips HBM promise to double increase bandwidth.
If the information would be true partners Nvidia will launch test production HBM2-memory at the end of 2015, while mass production of chips at the facilities of Samsung and SK Hynix will begin in the first quarter of 2016.
It should be noted that the GPU architecture Pascal also supported NVLink technology, whereby the CPU and the GPU can communicate 5-12 times faster.
