UMIDIGI S2 Pro Review & Compare with UMIDIGI S2

A month ago, the Chinese manufacturer UMIDIGI introduced two new smartphones called UMIDIGI S2 and UMIDIGI S2 Pro. We have already reviewed UMIDIGI S2, but what about the second smartphone? It is strange, but it goes on sale only today. We do not know what’s the reason for delay of sales start, but you can buy UMIDIGI S2 PRO right now.

We must say that UMIDIGI S2 and UMIDIGI S2 Pro have big differences. First, UMIDIGI S2 is a budget smartphone, while S2 Pro comes with flagship specifications. So, we decided to make the first review UMIDIGI S2 Pro, and also compare it with UMIDIGI S2, so you know the difference between them.

Unboxing

Like the base model, UMIDIGI S2 Pro comes in an interesting black box that opens like a book. UMIDIGI logo is located on the front of the box.

The official website says, then inside the box we are expected:

• Umidigi S2 Pro

• Type C earphone adapter
• Standard Charger x 1
• SIM eject tool
• User Menu x 1
• TP screen protector x 1

At the moment, we don’t see differences between UMIDIGI S2 Pro and standard S2. It is not surprising, because both smartphones are from the same manufacturer and they are announced in one day.

UMIDIGI S2 Pro: Design

One of the main features of UMIDIGI S2 Pro is full screen design and full metal unibody. On the front panel we see a large screen, as well as front camera and receiver.

The right side has three buttons: power and volume control. On the left you can find SIM card slot and  microSD memory card.

At the bottom is USB Type-C port, microphone and speaker.

The back panel is made in a minimalist style. Here you will see dual camera, flashlight and fingerprint reader. The upper and lower edges have plastic antennas.

As you can see from the image below, the size of 6-inch UMIDIGI S2 Pro is similar to 5.5-inch smartphone.

Also we should note that smartphone will be available in black and red colors.

So, what is the difference between UMIDIGI S2 and S2 Pro? There is no difference in design. These are similar in appearance phones.

UMIDIGI S2 Pro: Display

As we have already said, UMIDIGI S2 Pro comes with 6-inch screen, like UMIDIGI S2. But the main difference from the basic version is the higher resolution Full HD+, 2160×1080 Pixels. We recall that S2 has HD+ display.

Other details aboit display are the same: 18: 9 aspect ratio, made by SHARP TDDI In-cell, 90% screen-to-body ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass 4.

There is no doubt that a higher resolution makes the display more qualitative and detailed. We think that Full HD+ resolution is ideal for bezel-less 6-inch screen.

UMIDIGI S2 Pro: Performance

If we compare UMIDIGI S2 and S2 Pro, then the main difference between them is in hardware. As the name says, UMIDIGI S2 Pro is more powerful version. Below you can see comparison table, but now I’ll tell you about hardware UMIDIGI S2 Pro.

The smartphone is powered by Helio P25 processor with a maximum frequency of 2.6 GHz. The Mali-T880 MP2 900MHz is responsible for graphics performance, for example, in 3D games.

The new smartphone is equipped with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal memory. Moreover, you can use memory cards up to 256 GB to expand the internal storage.

At the moment we can not talk about real performance, but Helio P25 processor in other smartphones shows about 60K points in AnTuTu. This is not the highest result, but it is more than enough for a quick and smooth operation of the smartphone.

UMIDIGI S2 Pro: Camera

Another difference between UMIDIGI S2 and S2 Pro is front camera. The new model comes with 16MP selfie camera, while the base version only has 5MP resolution. It is really a big difference, and if you often take selfies, then you definitely should buy UMIDIGI S2 Pro.

As for the main camera, then smartphones have the same camera. Both phones are equipped with Sony IMX258 sensor with 13MP and 5MP resolution. Now you can find a lot of sample photos from UMIDIGI S2 camera, so we have got some images from Tech Brothers.

Battery

If we talk about battery UMIDIGI S2 Pro and basic version S2, then there is no difference. Both smartphones come with 5100 mAh battery with support Quick Charge 2.0 technology. The manufacturer promises 2 days of battery life, 7 hours of non stop gaming and 10 hours of full brightness Full HD video play.

If you talk about charging, the smartphone is fully charged for 150 minutes. It is a good result for such a large battery.

Conclusion

UMIDIGI S2 Pro is a truly improved version. It has more powerful processor, more RAM and built-in memory, and an improved front camera. In addition, the display resolution is Full HD+. As for the design, it is the same as UMIDIGI S2.

Now you can buy UMIDIGI S2 for $185. The price of UMIDIGI S2 Pro is $299.99. As you can see, the price difference is significant, so you should think for yourself whether the improvements in hardware, display resolution and front camera are really worth paying twice as much.

In any case, UMIDIGI S2 and UMIDIGI S2 Pro are interesting full screen smartphones.
