Xiaomi Mi 5c: First smartphone with Surge S1 processor + Coupons

In recent months, we have heard a lot of rumors and leaks about Xiaomi Mi 5C. Today new Xiaomi smartphone was officially presented. Xiaomi has not gone at MWC 2017, and announced the device at its own event in China. In addition, manufacturer said about new processor Surge S1 used in Xiaomi Mi 5C.

Xiaomi Mi 5C: Design

Xiaomi Mi 4C was released two years ago. It looks like many other smartphones of Chinese company. It has the same strongly rounded corners of the body. Unfortunately, the performance of new smartphone is almost the same, but in some other ways Xiaomi Mi 5C is better than its predecessor.

So, new smartphone has got a 2860 mAh battery. According to manufacturer, it is enough for the working day. Perhaps a smaller battery allowed to make the smartphone a little thinner (7.09 mm versus 7.8 mm for Xiaomi Mi 4c), although the length of the body was increased by 6 millimeters (up to 144.38 mm) and width (69.68 mm) has not changed.

Xiaomi Mi 5C: Performance

The most interesting feature of Xiaomi Mi 5c is new chipset Surge S1. It is the first smartphone that is equipped with its own SoC by Xiaomi development. The Chinese manufacturer developed it for the last 28 months.

Earlier Surge S1 appeared with codenamed Pinecone. It received a graphics accelerator Mali T860 and eight cores Cortex-A53. Half of them operates at a frequency of 2.2 GHz, the second half – 1.4 GHz. This configuration, according to Xiaomi, provides the perfect balance between performance and energy efficiency.

Surge S1 can be compared with middle class processor MediaTek Helio P20 and slightly superior to Snapdragon 625. At the benchmark Antutu 6.0 new chip scored 64817 points – nearly 3,000 points less than Snapdragon 808, which was equipped in Xiaomi Mi 4c.

Xiaomi Mi 5c will be available only in one option: 3 GB of RAM and 64 GB of internal memory. As we remember, the top-end version Xiaomi Mi 4c had 32 GB of flash memory.

Also new smartphone is equipped with updated screen: instead of 5-inch display it has 5.15-inch Full HD- JDI matrix screen with unusually thin side frames (Xiaomi Mi 5S has the same). Moreover, its brightness can be adjusted under the conditions of ambient light – the number of gradations of lighting power increased in 8 times to 2048.

Xiaomi Mi 5c: Camera

Another advantage of Xiaomi Mi 5c is a camera. On the rear panel located 12-megapixel module with a pixel size of 1.25 microns. The front camera offers 8 megapixels sensor. According to Xiaomi, the basic sensitivity of the sensor has grown in half, which made it possible to improve the quality of photos taken in low light.

Also it was further developed noise reduction algorithm, which should have a positive impact on the clarity of images taken in adverse conditions. The results of engineers work can be shown on photos below. We have to wait for the first real photos, because they are too perfect.

Xiaomi Mi 5c goes on sale March 3 at a price of $218. The smartphone will come with pre-installed Android 7.0, but soon the manufacturer promises to release an update to Android 7.1.
