Xiaomi Townew T1 First REVIEW: Do You Need Smart Trash Can?

Xiaomi company releases smartphone for about 8 years. Also, you may know about Chinese manufacturer by many other different devices, such as tablets, laptops, robot vacuum cleaners, LED bulbs, IP cameras, etc. However, do you know about smart trash can? Yes, Xiaomi has a trash can too. There are some additional functions, which allows calling this trash can a smart device.

At the end of the summer 2018, Xiaomi introduced Townew T1 smart trash can. It is already available on sale from Chinese online stores, such as Gearbest, AliExpress or Banggood. Townew is another sub-brand of Xiaomi company, which produces gadgets for home.

Townew T1: Design

The smart can is made of high-quality ABC plastic. It is available only in white. The trash can is non-toxic and odorless.

Xiaomi Townew T1 has a capacity of 15.5 liters and comes with special tear-free garbage bags. The dimensions are 33x28x43 cm, and weight – 3.5 kg. The device has a rectangular shape. There are not any drawings or logos on the case. In general, design is very minimalist, like other Xiaomi devices.

On the front panel there is one touch button on top. You can press and hold it for three seconds, and trash can will automatically replace the old garbage bag with a new one. A short press on the button allows you to open the can manually.

On the rear panel there is physical Power button and charging connector. A small foot on the back will prevent Townew T1 from falling or sliding across the floor.

Thanks to the stylish design, Xiaomi smart trash can will fit into any interior. You can even use the trash can in the living room, bedroom and any other room, not just in the kitchen.

The package contents include a smart trash can, USB cable for charging and the box of garbage bags.

Townew T1: Functions

Perhaps the main feature of this smart can is automatic lid opening. There is a built-in motion sensor, so the smart can reacts precisely to the movement nearby. After the garbage is thrown away, the trash can will slam the lid tightly. It effectively blocks any odors inside, and it does not attract flies and other insects.

Also, you don’t need to install garbage bag manually. After removing the full garbage bag, the trash can will install a new one automatically. You just need to press a button.

Unfortunately, Xiaomi Townew T1 doesn’t work with any trash bags. The Chinese company sells cartridges with 12 meters of durable polyethylene film, which is soldered during the removal of the next portion of garbage. You can watch how it works on the video below.

Xiaomi Townew T1 is equipped with a lid lock function to protect from children. The internal LED backlight has three modes: fade, shine and breathe.

The battery has a capacity of 2000mAh. According to the manufacturer, the battery life is up to 35 days on a single charge. Yes, now you will need to charge even the trash can, not only smartphone.
