The Bank of France’s GDP in the third quarter will add 0.2%

French economy showed only modest growth in the third quarter of this year, and business sentiment remains quite low, as shown by a survey conducted by the Bank of France.

This monthly survey of the central bank predicts that the second largest economy in the euro area will add 0.2% in the third quarter.

French economy came to a screeching halt, showing zero growth in the first two quarters of the year. Unemployment continued to rise, and the government’s plans to reduce the state budget deficit were not realized, as tax revenues fell short of expectations.

A survey conducted by the Bank of France showed that business leaders lack confidence, which is necessary to stimulate recovery.

The index of business sentiment in the manufacturing sector fell below the long-term average, and 100 in September was 96 points, while in August it stood at 97, say the Banque de France. In the service sector, this figure has remained stable, at around 93, and in construction – fell from 92 to 91 points.
