Predictions are an ungrateful thing. But let’s not fool ourselves: everyone wonders what lies ahead. The smartphone market is a dynamic environment. In this article we will try to predict the release dates of main smartphones from leading companies, such as Samsung, Huawei, Apple, Xiaomi, Honor, Oppo, Vivo, Sony, Nokia, Razer, LG, ZTE, ASUS, Nubia, HTC, Google, OnePlus. We will write not only about the most expected flagships, but also less well-known ones, but not less popular smartphones.

New smartphones in 2019: New Features

This is our 2019 smartphones calendar. Here we are trying to guess the release dates of smartphones in 2019, based on the actions of companies in previous years, so do not be angry if we make a mistake somewhere. Before going directly to the calendar, let’s discuss the new features of smartphones in 2019:

1. 5G mobile Internet. Almost all flagships in 2019 will have 5G network. After the official announcement of Snapdragon 855, 5G Internet has become even more obvious, because new processor supports the technology.

2. More main cameras. At the end of 2018, we saw some triple camera smartphones. Moreover, Samsung introduced a smartphone with four main cameras. In 2019, the madness will continue, and most smartphones will have three, four, and maybe even five sensors of the main camera.

3. The bezels around the display will be even smaller. Thanks to the latest leaks, and already released Samsung Galaxy A8s and Huawei Nova 4, you can see the new trend – hole-punch display.  The hole is designed for the front camera, while the rest of the front panel is occupied by display.

4. Internal memory will continue to increase. 512GB of internal memory for flagships in 2019 will become standard.

5. Built-in display fingerprint sensors. Perhaps in 2019 we will see fewer smartphones with a fingerprint sensor on the rear panel.

6. Better performance, because of new type of RAM LPDDR5.

7. The first smartphones with flexible screens will appear. We have been waiting for the realization of this futuristic fantasy for more than one year. It seems in 2019 we will see at least prototypes of smartphones with flexible displays.

Calendar of Smartphones in 2019: January

The series of smartphones Samsung Galaxy A 2019 will be introduced in January – Galaxy A3, Galaxy A5, Galaxy A6 and Galaxy A7, A8, A9 2019. Almost full bezel-less display is expected for A-series 2019. Now it is reported that Galaxy A7, A8, A9 2019 will receive triple cameras and built-in display fingerprint sensors.

All models of Samsung Galaxy A 2019 will be powered by new processors Exynos. The price range will be from $200 to $700. More information about prices and specifications of smartphones from Samsung Galaxy A 2019 series will be found closer to their release date.

Sony Xperia XZ4 – We already know almost everything about Sony’s new flagship smartphone 2019. There are specifications, photos and even sample photos taken on the main camera. It means that release date of Xperia XZ4 will be very soon. The smartphone will be radically different from the previous generation: bezel-less display, a triple camera, 8GB of RAM, 5G support and 4000mAh battery.

Huawei Nova 4 – this smartphone is already announced, however it will go on sale in January 2019. This is a powerful mid-range smartphone with beautiful design and good price. The main feature of Huawei Nova 4 is hole-punch display. The hole for the front camera is located in the left upper corner.

Also, Huawei Nova 4 is the first smartphone with new 48MP sensor from Sony. In general, it has triple rear camera. The smartphone is powered by flagship chipset Kirin 970.

 

Xiaomi Mi9 – We are waiting for Xiaomi’s new flagship smartphone no less than flagships from Samsung and Apple. What’s the secret? Powerful performance and affordable price – that’s the answer. The new generation of smartphone will be powered by Snapdragon 855 processor, which is built on 7-nm process technology.

The main camera of mobile device will consist of three sensors. One of them will be a new sensor 48MP Sony IMSX586, just like Huawei Nova 4. The fingerprint scanner will be located under the screen. It is also expected that the smartphone will be protected from dust and moisture according to IP68 standard. Also, it will have wireless charging and NFC.

All smartphones in February will be released at MWC 2019 exhibition, which will be held in Barcelona.

Asus ZenFone 6 2019 – It is a restart of the popular smartphone. The last Zenfone 6 smartphone was released in 2014, however 2019 model will have noting similar to the previous model, except the name. There are no specific specifications of smartphone, but it is not difficult to predict them. Most likely, it will have a flagship chipset Snapdragon 855, 6GB and 8GB of RAM.

The screen will have Full HD+ resolution, and the diagonal of 6+ inches. The leaked photos of Asus ZenFone 6 2019 say that new smartphone will have Sony’s triple camera. The design of the smartphone also leaked to the network: a fingerprint scanner on the back panel, a triple camera, hole-punch screenn. The released date of Asus ZenFone 6 2018 scheduled for February-March 2019.

Vivo NEX2 is a new smartphone of the Chinese manufacturer. In 2018, Vivo actively promoted its flagship. Vivo NEX2 will be released in the first months of 2019. We know quite a lot about the smartphone.

The Chinese brand continue to amaze: we are waiting for smartphone with two screens. Main display will have diagonal of 6.59 inches, while the rear screen will be 5.5 inch. Vivo NEX2 will not have front camera, there will be only one triple camera. Around the camera will be placed a huge RGB flashlight.

In general, the smartphone looks very strange. The other specifications are relatively standard: Snapdragon 845 chipset, 10GB of RAM, 3.5 mm headphone jack, USB Type-C and NFC.

Nokia 9 Pureview – the release of this flagship smartphone has been rescheduled from quarter to quarter. Many people no longer believe that the smartphone will go on sale. However, new rumors are constantly coming out about Nokia 9 Pureview, and it gives us a hope.

The main feature of new Nokia smartphone will be the main camera with five sensors. All five cameras are located on the back of Nokia 9 Pureview. It looks like a flower. So far, there are no specifications, so we are just waiting for the official announcement of Nokia 9 Pureview.

Samsung Galaxy S10 and S10+ – It’s a main announcement of the first quarter of 2019. It is expected that Samsung Galaxy S10 will be the first smartphone with Snapdragon 855. The main feature of new chipset is 7-nm process technology.

It provides greater performance and longer battery life. It is expected that Samsung Galaxy S10 / 10+ will have completely new design. The renderer images show that new smartphone will get a more angular design. In addition, there will be two holed for the front cameras.

The fingerprint scanner will be hidded under the screen. On the back we can see a brand logo, as well as a horizontal triple cameras and flashlight. Photos of Samsung Galaxy S10 / 10+ look very good. Perhaps Samsung will become a new trendsetter.

Samsung Galaxy F – For a long time there are rumors that Samsung is developing a smartphone with a flexible screen. The waiting time is over – in spring 2019, Samsung will introduce its flexible smartphone. So far, there is some information about Samsung Galaxy F.

The smartphone will get 7.3 inch Super Amoled display,  as well as 128/512GB of internal memory. The processor will be mid-range, and the smartphone will run on Android OS. There is already information about the price of Samsung Galaxy F – about $1800. Is it too expensive? We should pay for high technology.

LG G8 ThinQ – The next LG’s flagship smartphone. Last year LG has passed without big announcements. There were some strange releases, boring flagships, expensive budget smartphones. Perhaps in 2019, LG will return to the race.

Already announced LG G8 ThinQ will be released in the first quarter of 2019. Very little is known about upcoming smartphone, but its main feature should be 4K-resolution LCD screen. Earlier, only Sony released smartphone with 4K display. It is important to note that 4K resolution will work only when needed. It is made especially not to overload the processor and graphics of the smartphone.

If you believe the rumors, the screen brightness LG G8 ThinQ will reach 1000 nit. The other specifications will be the same as other flagship smartphones.

Nubia Z19 – the next flagship, which was expected in 2018, but will be released in 2019. ZTE was late with release of its top-end smartphones. Nubia Z19 will have a classic design with red details. Also, the smartphone will get a powerful hardware and an attractive price tag.

So far, only some specifications of Nubia Z19 are known, which leaked to the network in the middle of 2018. The smartphone will have 6/8 GB of RAM and 64/128 GB of ROM. Also, we can definitely talk about the display with an aspect ratio of 19:9. Nubia Z19 will be powered by Snapdragon 855.

Xiaomi Redmi Pro 2 is a mid-range smartphone of the Chinese manufacturer, which will be released in the first quarter of 2019. Its specifications are constantly changing. If you believe the latest leaks, the smartphone will have new 11-nm SoC Snapdragon 675, hole-punch display and 48MP camera from Sony. If the leaks are true, it will be the next Xiaomi bestseller.

Calendar of Smartphones in 2019: April

Samsung Galaxy J1, J2, J3, J5 and J7 2019 are not as often discussed as some other smartphones, but people will definitely buy them. These are budget smartphones, so they will find their buyers.

This year, very little is known about the Samsung’s budget smartphones. There is information that Samsung wants to abandon J series. If this happens, it will be very strange step – everyone knows about the budget series J, mid-range series A, and flagship series S. Will Samsung no longer release budget smartphones?

Huawei P30 / Z0 Pro – new smartphones from Huawei, which will continue the series of camera phones. All previous smartphones in the series were in the list of phones with the best cameras.

If you believe the rumors, the camera of Huawei P30 / Z0 Pro will be great: 40 megapixel + 20 megapixel + 12 megapixel and wide-angle lens. Other specifications will be also flagship: 8/10GB of RAM and Kirin 980 chipset. A large 2K display will be on the front panel. The design of smartphones will continue the tradition of 2018 – a gradient back panel, a glass body and maximum bezel-less.

Xiaomi Black Shark 3 – Xiaomi gaming series will receive the third generation smartphone in 2019. This year Xiaomi released its first gaming smartphones and made quite a lot of noise. The first model Black Shark was held in first place in the list of the most powerful Android phones for a long time.

Most likely, in 2019, this good tradition will continue with Xiaomi Black Shark 3. So far, there is no any information about upcoming smartphone. But we can say with confidence that the next gaming smartphone will have a game modification MIUI. The latest Qualcomm processor and cooling system will make Xiaomi Black Shark 3 even more progressive.

Calendar of Smartphones in 2019: May

Xiaomi Pocophone F2 – a “budget” flagship will be continued in 2019. The first Pocophone F1 blew up the market. What will be Xiaomi Pocophone F2? The smartphone will be powered new chipset Qualcomm 855.

Also it will get 6 and 8GB of RAM, 64, 128 and 256 GB of ROM and IPS screen with Full HD+ resolution. Other flagship technologies are unlikely to be available to the “budget” flagship. More information about the smartphone will be available closer to release of Xiaomi Pocophone F2.

Meizu 16S – the next generation of 16th model of Meizu flagships. Meizu 16 saved the company, showing that the Chinese brand still knows how to make high-quality devices.

Almost immediately after the release of the smartphone, the President of Meizu announced that the next generation of flagship will be called Meizu 16S. Now a lot of information is known about the smartphone. The screen will be SuperAmoled with 6.21-inch diagonal and Full HD+ resolution, 2160×1080.

The specifications are as follows: Snapdragon 8150 chipset, 6GB and 8GB of RAM, Adreno 640 graphics processor. The cameras will be great: 12 + 20 megapixels. The front camera will have 20MP sensor. If we know the technical specifications of the smartphone, then design Meizu 16S is still unknown.

Calendar of Smartphones in 2019: June

HTC U13 – the new Taiwan flagship will be presented in the summer of 2019. However, we already know quite a lot about the smartphone. It will receive an interesting design. The front panel will have a huge screen.

There will be no bezels or notches, just a small line on the top for earpiece, front camera and other sensors. As for performance, everything is standard: Snapdragon 855 processor, 8GB of RAM and 256GB of ROM. Also, new smartphone will have a triple camera. Looking forward to the new smartphone from HTC. We hope that the company will not go bankrupt before the release of HTC U13.

Moto Z4 – Moto’s flagship smartphone will be released in the first half of 2019. The smartphone has already passed certification in the US communications service, so Moto Z4 will be released. Rumors say that the smartphone will get a strange combination of specifications.

Moto Z4 will be powered by the latest generation of Qualcomm processor, but only 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory. It seems Motorola is copying Google, but Moto unlikely has the same software optimization as Google. The smartphone will run on Android 9.0 operating system.

LG G8 is the flagship of the South Korean company. It will get all the new features: Snapdragon 855, RAM type LPDDR5 and 5G Internet. The design of LG G8 is not known yet. However, it is unlikely that the South Korean company will show something original – their smartphones are rarely beautiful and original.

The new generation of LG flagships will receive protection against dust and moisture by IP68 standard, Bluetooth 5, a new fast QI charging and the latest version of Android OS. The secret is only one: how much will LG G8 cost?

Calendar of Smartphones in 2019: August

Samsung Galaxy Note 10 – a smartphone with a stylus. Probably the only one of its kind. Recently, it was reported that Galaxy Note 10 may not be released. There are many questions to this model, because everyone asks why you need Galaxy Note 10, if there is Samsung S10+?

The Plus version of flagship smartphone will have similar display size as Galaxy Note 10, so it is not so much chance to come out in 2019. It’s a pity, because the Note series was interesting.

OnePlus 7 – the future flagship of the Chinese company with a small model range. From year to year, OnePlus pleases its fans with high-quality smartphones, which successfully compete with such giants of the market as Apple, Samsung and Huawei.

OnePlus is loved not only for its excellent price/quality ratio, but also for its stable software. The new generation, like the previous ones, will have the latest features. OnePlus 7 will have 8GB of RAM, the new Snapdragon 855 processor, which has already been announced, a screen with 95% of screen to body ratio. As for the cameras, the smartphone will have 12MP + 12MP sensors. The smartphone will cost up to  600, which makes it a good option for purchase.

Most likely, OnePlus 7 will again be included in the lists of the most popular flagships of 2019.

Calendar of Smartphones in 2019: September

Oppo R19 is another brave smartphone of a Chinese company, which will go on sale in 2019. Oppo will try to mount the front camera directly into the display. We don’t know more about the smartphone. More information will appear closer to Oppo R19 presentation.

iPhone 2019 is a new generation of Apple smartphones. It will be the 11th generation. Right now there are no rumors and leaks, but we can say for sure that iPhone 2019 series doesn’t please us with its originality. Most likely, we are waiting for small changes, as happened in 2018.

Of course, besides pessimistic forecasts, there are also positive ones. For example, some people believe that in addition to the improved processor Apple A13 Bionic. new smartphone will have triple cameras, an improved TrueDepth face scanning system, and perhaps Apple Pencil support.

Honor Magic 3 – Honor’s concept smartphone, which comes out right after the new iPhones. Huawei trolls Apple, showing approximately the same features and technologies, only asks for less money. The announcement of the second generation was quite recently, so information about Honor Magic 3 has not yet leaked to the network.

Google Pixel 4, Pixel 4XL – flagship smartphones from Google. If the previous generation can be considered a small update, then in 2019 Google will show something interesting. There are already first leaks with design and technical specifications.

Both phones will get dual front-facing cameras and all-glass cases. Interestingly, pink-gray color option will appear. According to rumors, the front panel of the smartphone will receive a dual selfie camera and stereo speakers. The battery capacity will grow up to 4000mAh. In October 2019, Google will show us something interesting.

Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro – flagship smartphones Huawei. You should not expect their release before the autumn of 2019. Right now there is not much information about Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro.

The main leak says Huawei will continue to improve the optical zoom. As you remember, Huawei Mate 20 Pro is  the only smartphone in the world that has 5X optical zoom without loss of quality. The Chinese company said that Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro will be equipped with 10x optical zoom. It sounds great! We want to see the first photos taken on the camera Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro.

Xiaomi Mi Mix 4 is the next generation of a super bezel-less smartphone, which loses its relevance from year to year, because its main feature of bezel-less has disappeared. There is information that in 2019 Xiaomi may refuse to release Xiaomi Mi Mix 4.

Razer Phone 3 is a gaming smartphone from a popular gaming company. We still do not know anything about the design of smartphone, but specifications will be following: Snapdragon 855 chipset, 10GB / 12GB RAM, graphics card Adreno 640. The cameras will be great: 12 + 20MP. More details about Razer Phone 3 will appear closer to its release!
