The popularity of electric bikes is growing every year. It is a comfortable, versatile and more affordable vehicle than a private car or taxi. Don’t believe us? Then let’s look at real numbers. In 2017, there were about 450,000 electric bicycles for rent in China. By the end of 2018, this figure had already increased to 1.5 million.
In this article we want to talk about two new electric bikes: CityMantiS F16 and a more powerful version CityMantiS F16 Plus. Both bicycles received a folding design, an aluminum frame, 250V motors and a maximum speed of 25 km/h.

CityMantiS F16 and F16 Plus: Design
One of the main features of any modern electric bicycles is compactness. CityMantiS F16 and F16 Plus are no exceptions. New bikes have a foldable design and compact size.
When unfolded, the dimensions of CityMantiS F16 and F16 Plus are 140 x 58 x 100 cm. If they are folded, the dimensions are 75 x 36 x 70 cm. When folded, the bikes are placed in the back seat of a car. They are also very convenient to store in an apartment or office.
The weight of both bikes is almost the same. CityMantiS F16 weighs 19.5 kg, while the older version F16 Plus – 20 kg. Yes, the bikes are not very lightweight. Nevertheless, the bike can still be folded, picked up and taken to the subway or other public transport.
The body of electric bikes is made of aluminum alloy. This is a reliable and sturdy material. The maximum weight that the CityMantiS F16 is able to withstand is 110 kg, and F16 Plus – slightly less than 100 kg. This is a good option for both teenagers and adults. Both bikes are available in white and black colors.
The first difference in design between CityMantiS F16 and F16 Plus is the size and shape of the battery. The basic model has the battery under the seat. The battery has a rectangular shape, and it is located parallel to the wheel.
CityMantiS F16 Plus has an extended battery, which is attached along the seat. It is larger, but due to its good location it looks more compact.
Above the front wheel, both electric bikes have a bright LED light. It ensures the safety of movement on a bicycle in the dark or on a poorly lit road. But there are also differences. CityMantiS F16 has a red strip of LED lights on the battery. Thanks to this strip, the bike is clearly visible to other road users. CityMantiS F16 Plus has no back light.
On the left side of the steering wheel is LCD panel. This small display shows the battery level, speed and mode.
As for the other specifications, both electric bikes are equipped with 16-inch tires. The wheels are fitted with front and rear disc brakes and 6-speed Shimano gearbox.
If you want to fold CityMantiS F16 or F16 Plus bike, simply turn one lever under the steering wheel and another one on the frame under the seat.
CityMantiS F16 and F16 Plus: Functions
Now let’s talk about the features of new electric bikes. As we wrote earlier, both bikes have powerful 250V motors. The maximum speed that bikes can accelerate is 25 km/h.
F16 can climb slopes up to 25 degrees, while CityMantiS F16 Plus – 35 degrees.
Both bikes received three ride modes: pedal mode, mixed mode and fully electric mode. As you understand, using the first mode you need to pedal yourself. The second mode allows you to combine your own efforts and motor power. In fully electric mode, the bike takes over all the work.
You can change modes depending on the situation. For example, when climbing a steep slope, turn on the electric mode. If you see that the battery will be discharged soon, then combine the pedals and motor power.
Electric bikes have different batteries. The older model CityMantiS F16 Plus boasts 13Ah battery. This is enough for 50-60 km in fully electric mode and up to 70 km in mixed mode. As you understand, the range depends on user’s weight and road cover. The full battery charge of F16 Plus takes 4 hours.
CityMantiS F16 is equipped with half the battery – 7.8 Ah. The full charge will be enought for 40–50 km in electric mode and 60 km in mixed mode. To fully charge this electric bike you must wait 4.5 hours.
