H96 MAX – H2 REVIEW: It Is Much Better Than Xiaomi Mi TV Box! (4GB RAM + 64GB ROM)

H96 MAX H2 H96 MAX – H2 is my favorite TV box, because it has powerful hardware (Rockchip RK3328 and 4/64GB memory), original design and low price. I have been using this TV Box about 1 month, and I have something to say about it. So, here is full review of H96 MAX – H2 TV Box.

I want to note, there is another model of this TV Box. It is called H96 MAX – H1. It has the same design and specifications, but H2 version comes with 64GB of internal memory and LED display on the front panel.

Package

The Android TV Box comes in very durable black box. In addition, it looks very stylish, thanks to gold insert in the middle. There is model number and some words about TV Box on the front panel.

Inside the box you can see the TV Box in transparent package, and next to it is another box.

It includes remote control, HDMI cable, power adapter, and user manual. You can see the full package contents on the image below.

Design

H96 MAX – H2 has very interesting design. Yes, it is the same square box, just like many other TV Boxes, however there is LED display brief information, such as time, Wi-Fi, USB, etc.

The top panel has colorful drawing and model number. It looks very beautiful and attractive.

From the other side, you can find sticker with some details about TV box, for example, processor, OS, RAM and others. In addition, there are ventilation holes and four rubber feet.

Among the available connectors, there are three USB ports (one of them is USB 3.0, while another two are USB 2.0) and slot for SD MMC cards on the right side.

On the backside, you can see another USB 2.0 port, SPFIF, AV, DHMI, Ethernet and power connector 5V. There are so many different connectors and ports, so you should not have any problems.

If we talk about remote control, it is standard. To be honest, I hate remote controls from Xiaomi TV boxes, because they have only few buttons.

As for H96 MAX – H2, it comes with very good remote control with many different buttons, for example, Apps, Menu, Mouse cursor, Keyboard and others. The remote control is powered by two AAA batteries.

So, H96 MAX – H2 is not only powerful Android TV Box, but also it is very beautiful device. It comes with LED display and different connectors, and using AV port, you can use it with even old TVs.

Hardware

Now, let’s talk about hardware. H96 MAX – H2 is one of the most powerful TV boxes that I have ever tested. It is powered by Rockchip RK3328 chipset and Mali-450 graphics. Also there is 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory.

H96 MAX – H2 has the best configuration, because also, there is H96 MAX – H1 is equipped with 4GB of Ram and 32GB of storage. The difference in price is only about $10, so I recommend you to buy H96 MAX – H2.

As for wireless connectivity, there is support for dual band Wi-Fi 2.5G and 5G, Bluetooth 4.0. Also there is Ethernet port with up to 100Mb/s.

Below you can see screenshots from benchmarks, such as AndroBench memory speed test and GeekBench 4. It is a pity, but I cannot run AnTuTu.

User interface

When you turn on the H96 MAX – H2 for the first time, you will have setup menu to choose language, Wi-Fi connection, and others. Then you will see the main screen with the icons of categories, the most popular apps, settings and other stuff. Here you can find three fixed apps on the top: Netflix, YouTube, and Google Play Store.

At the bottom, you can choose your favorite apps to have a quick access.

The apps menu has some pre-installed apps, such as media player, browser, file manager, browser, HappyCast, ES File Explorer, Mobdro, Netflix, etc.

By the way, there is even notifications panel from the top, just like on smartphone or tablet. It provides quick access to Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, Settings menu and notifications.

If you swipe form the right side of the screen, you will see quick Android settings menu. Here you can read about, choose language, reset storage.  Also, you can use standard Android menu.

Google Services work very well. You can log into your Google Account, and watch video from subscriptions. You can install apps from Google Play Store, or using APK file from file manager.

I forgot to say that H96 MAX – H2 runs on Android 7.1 operating system.

As you may remember, H96 MAX – H2 is TV Box, so let’s watch TV channels and videos. There is already pre-installed apps with TV channels, and they include free packages from all over the world. The football and movies run pretty good. I did not have buffering, and any delays or slowdowns while watching.

The maximum video resolution in YouTube is 1080P. However, I launch 4K video from USB drive, and it runs very well. So, if you have 4K TV, then safely run 4K movies.

Although H96 MAX – H2 has many ventilations holes, the TV Box heats up under high loads. The regular temperature is about 60 degrees, but while watching videos it increases to 75 degrees. It is not critical, but the body of TV box becomes warm.

Conclusion

Now H96 MAX – H2 is my main TV box. Earlier I have Xiaomi TV Box, but it has some drawbacks. H96 MAX – H2 is more powerful, stylish and customized device. There are four USB ports, Ethernet, and even VC port to connect to old TVs. 4GB of RAM is more than enough for smooth multitasking, while 64GB of internal memory is a good storage for 4K movies.

You can use H96 MAX – H2 for both watching streaming videos on YouTube, TV channels, and even surfing internet, chatting in messengers and playing games.

If you do not have smart TV, then you need to buy Android TV Box, and H96 MAX – H2 is one of the best options on the market.
