Leap Motion introduced 3D Jam 2.0

Leap Motion hold second annual Leap Motion 3D Jam this September. Starting September 28 developers from around the world will compete in creating the most innovative devices using hardware and software Leap Motion. Leap Motion expects to see trends of virtual reality, desktops, and mobile devices. The company hopes to see many interesting projects using new resources have been added in the development kits, like Image Hands and working with video.

Last year, during the first 3D Jam, which was very successful, there were more than 160 different projects. Some of the most popular apps in the store Leap gained such a success it was after last year’s competition. ElementL: Ghost Story, though not won in the last year, but has become one of the most popular free applications that update using Images Hands.

On Leap Motion 3D Jam 2.0 will be two different categories of the competition with individual prizes. The first category is the AR / VR Track. These projects need to work with some kind of HMD Oculus Rift DK2. There will be five awards in this category, plus two awards for custom sympathy.

First prize is $ 10,000. Second place will bring $ 7,500, the third – to $ 5,000, the fourth – $ 2,500, and the fifth – $ 1,000. People’s Choice Award of $ 500 to each of the two winners.

The second category is called the Open Track. This is something which will address all the other projects, including any desktop application or Android. Projects of the Internet of Things will also fall into this category.

The prize fund in this category is not so big, there will be only three awards and one audience award. Prizes are divided into the same parts in the first place give $ 10,000, second place – $ 7,500, and the third will bring $ 5,000 to the winner. “Beloved,” the audience will receive $ 500 and equipment from Leap.
