Meizu 16S and 16S Plus First REVIEW: Meizu’s Comeback?

In recent years, Meizu lost ground. The Chinese brand ruined its reputation by releasing some failed smartphones. About two years ago we followed the releases of every Meizu smartphone, but now it is not so interesting. However, Meizu continues to produce new phones, and today we want to talk about Meizu 16S and Meizu 16S Plus. Perhaps they will return the former glory of Meizu? Let’s find out.

Meizu 16s and 16s Plus: Design

In fact, there is not so much information about upcoming flagships. We can’t even say for sure that the photos above show Meizu 16s and 16s Plus. However, spy images have the similar smartphone to the early renders and schematic drawings.

The photos of the front panel say a lot. Meizu decided not to experiment with design, but only reduced the bezels on top and bottom. The bezels on sides are almost absent.

The smartphones don’t have notch or hole-punch display for front camera, because it is placed into a very thin top bezel. Honestly, it looks even better than a waterdrop notch and any other notch.

We have no photos of the back panel, but it is not difficult to imagine that it will be made of Gorilla Glass 6 glass or ceramics. We have information that there will be a triple camera on the back. Meizu cannot bypass this trend.

Meizu 16s and 16s Plus: Display

Both smartphones will have AMOLED panel from Samsung. Meizu 16s display diagonal will be 6.2-inches, while Meizu 16s Plus will be larger – 6.76-inches. Although Plus version has large display, its dimensions are the same as iPhone XS Max.

Meizu 16s and 16s Plus: Performance

It is obvious that new smartphones will be powered by flagship chipset Qualcomm Snapdragon 855. Also, there will be 6GB of RAM. Meizu 16s and 16s Plus will run on Android 9.0 Pie with Flyme 8 operating system.

By the way, the leaks say about smart stereo sound mSound 3.0. Also, the smartphones will support wireless fast charging. Of course, there will be NFC.

Meizu 16s and 16s Plus: Camera

As we already said, the smartphones will have triple camera on the rear panel: the main sensor, secondary sensor for bokeh effect and wide-angle lens.

By the way, the main sensor will be 48MP Sony IMX586. That says a lot, right?

Meizu 16s and 16s Plus: Battery

The last thing known about new Meizu phones is battery capacity. Meizu 16s will have 4000mAh battery, while Meizu 16s Plus will come with 4500mAh. As we wrote earlier, there will be support for wireless fast charging.

Meizu 16s and 16s Plus: Release date and Price

Although Meizu 16 and 16 Plus were released at the end of the summer 2018, new smartphones will be presented in early 2019. Most likely, Meizu 16s and 16s Plus will appear by the end of spring.

The price of Meizu 16s should not exceed $450, and Meizu 16s Plus will cost $490.
