Redmi 7 Pro First REVIEW: 32MP Front Camera is USELESS!

Winter 2019, Xiaomi introduced one of its best smartphones – Redmi Note 7. It has excellent processor, 48-megapixel camera, premium design, and affordable price. The smartphone instantly became a bestseller. Then Xiaomi introduced an improved version of Redmi Note 7 Pro with more powerful processor and 48MP sensor Sony IMX586.

The next smartphone from the Chinese manufacturer was Redmi 7. Surprisingly, Redmi 7 was not smaller, as it was expected. It just received less advanced features and more attractive price.

To be honest, Redmi 7 was not very interesting, although we can’t call it bad. Now Xiaomi is planning to release an improved version – Redmi 7 Pro. It is rumored to have much better front-facing camera.

In this article we want to talk about Xiaomi Redmi 7 Pro, its specifications and features. The smartphone wasn’t released yet, but there are already many rumors and leaks.

Redmi 7 Pro: Specifications

Rumors say that Pro version will be almost completely copy of Redmi 7 with some improvements. Therefore, we won’t dwell on design, processor and some other specs of upcoming smartphone. You can read specifications of Redmi 7, and Pro version will have almost the same features, except front camera.

We will talk about updates and changes in Redmi 7 Pro compared to Redmi 7.

Redmi 7 Pro: Camera

The main feature of new Xiaomi smartphone will be advanced front-facing camera. It will have 32MP sensor. We should remind you that Redmi 7 front camera has 8MP resolution.

To be honest, we don’t think that budget phone needs 32MP front camera. After all, the selfie camera is not rear camera, and you won’t take images in low-light conditions or 2x zoom. You can make good selfies on 8MP sensor, like Redmi 7.

We don’t think that 32 MP front camera will give any significant improvement in selfie photos quality, but only images will take more memory on smartphone. Therefore, it is better to have 8MP sensor, but use different technologies, such as wide lens or bokeh effect.

If we talk about rear camera of Redmi 7 Pro, it will have only 12MP sensor with f/2.2 aperture. It is very strange! It would be much better if Pro version had 32MP rear camera and 12MP front camera. Then you could take good selfies, as well as great shots on the main camera.

We don’t understand Xiaomi. Perhaps, these are only rumors, and Redmi 7 Pro will receive completely different cameras. But, most likely, they will be as they are.

Redmi 7 Pro: Price

Here is the most interesting part. The smartphone is promised to cost around $150. As you remember, Redmi 7 costs from $104, while the price of Redmi Note 7 is the same $150.

Redmi 7 Pro First Review: Smartphone with 32 MP front cameraMost likely, the leaked specifications are fake, because why should you buy Redmi 7 Pro, if you can get much better Redmi Note 7? If the leaks are true, then Xiaomi marketers are confused and do not understand that it is a bad idea to release Redmi 7 Pro at the same price as Redmi Note 7. No one would buy a weaker smartphone just because it has 32 megapixel selfie camera.

Therefore, we believe that the price of Redmi 7 Pro will be no more than $125.
