In September 2018, the new Amlogic S905X2 processor was introduced. It gets a lot of good reviews, thanks to its high performance. New TV Box has a quite standard design. This is a rectangle box of black matte color. There are two glossy black stripes on the front panel. By the way, the device is made of plastic, but we think it is not surprising.

The dimensions of TV Box are compact: 10.90 x 10.90 x 2.10 cm. The weight is only 180 grams. On the back side there is a black antenna. It is used for better Wi-Fi signal. The antenna is attached to the TV Box with gold fittings.

The front panel takes a large LED display. It shows the time, the connection and other information. The display is bright and clear, however it will not disturb you at night.

On the right and back faces there are all the necessary ports and connectors. On the right side are located USB 3.0, USB 2.0 and a slot for TF memory card. We also see four more ports on the back side, next to the antenna: HDMI 2.0 port, LAN port, optical S/PDIF output and DC 5V connector. As you can see, there are many ports, so you can connect any periphery to TV Box.

The gadget stands on four small rubber feet. They are designed to avoid TV Box from sliding on the surface. There is also a sticker with some information about the device.

Now let’s see the package contents. In fact, it doesn’t differ from other TV Boxes. Tanix TX5 Max comes with remote control, HDMI cable, power adapter and user manual.

By the way, the remote control is also matt black, like TV Box. It is very compact and convenient; the buttons are rubber. It is powered by two AAA battery.

As we already wrote earlier, Tanix TX5 Max is powered by new chipset Amlogic S905X2 with quad core Cortex-A53 and a frequency of up to 2.0GHz. There is also 4GB of RAM LPDDR4 and 32GB of internal memory eMMc. If the memory is not enough, you can expand it with TF memory card up to 128 GB.

Also, there is a graphics accelerator G31 MP2. Android TV box plays 4K UltraHD videos at 60 fps.

As for operating system, Android 8.1 Oreo with Alice launcher is installed on this TV Box. It has good optimization, so the performance is very good. It performs tasks quickly and clearly.

The main screen of UI provides most used apps, such as Google, YouTube, Play Store and Netflix. In the upper right corner there are Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connection icons.

On the left side there are buttons for settings and time. The main screen is very convenient and clear, you can quickly and easy figure out how to control it.

Thanks to the antenna on the back, Tanix TX5 Max provides a stable Wi-Fi signal at 2.4 and 5 GHz. In addition, you can connect it to the Internet using an Ethernet port with a maximum data transfer rate of up to 1000 Mbps.

As for a wireless connection, there is Bluetooth 4.2 support.
