Ukraine continues to reduce gas consumption
Due to the deterioration of relations between Ukraine and the Russian Federation continues to reduce the consumption of this resource and the introduction of new programs to phase out its use. In this direction, we have achieved some success. For eight months of the current year the consumption of natural gas fell by 15.5% in comparison with 2013 year. In August alone, the decline was 31.3%. Of course, these results were achieved due to the reduction of the economy and stop the enterprises in the fighting, however, this is a positive signal.
The main source of saving resources is through the implementation of the reverse flow of the European Union. From the beginning, our country imported 2.2 billion cubic meters of gas, and 986 million cubic meters were delivered in September. This significant increase was achieved by cooperation with Slovakia. According to the Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers, it has allowed Ukraine to save $ 500 million. Now “Gazprom” reduces the amount of supplies to Europe to stop the implementation of the reverse circuit, but this is not reflected in the Ukraine, as partners compensate for the loss due to purchase gas on the European market, where the higher the competition.
The government deliberately create a program to improve the efficiency of resource use in the country. In particular, proposed to buy boilers that do not work on the gas, the credit from the “Savings Bank” with compensation of 20% of the loan from the state budget. It allocated 50 million hryvnia. Also investors who will put Teplokomunenergo boiler will be able to receive a bonus of 50% of the cost of gas saved. While that decision was discussed in the proposal format and means under this program has not yet been allocated.
