Unemployment in Britain falls 16 consecutive month
The number of unemployed in the UK fell last month to 34.6 thousand people, confirmed by the data of the National Statistics Office (ONS).
Declines have been the 16th consecutive month. Experts interviewed by Bloomberg, on average, expected a decrease of 25 thousand people.
Data for January are also revised the number of people receiving unemployment benefits fell by 33.9 thousand people, and not by 27.6 thousand , as previously announced .
Unemployment rate , calculated by the methodology of the International Labour Organization ( ILO) , in November – January is fixed at 7.2% , confounding forecasts.
Analysts note that the Bank of England keeping stimulating monetary policy by keeping interest rates at a record low level , doing the right thing , as evidenced by data on unemployment .
The rapid increase in the level of employment has forced the central bank to abandon the British from the 7 % specified in August last year as a benchmark by which the Bank of England to decide on interest rate increases .
The number of unemployed in the UK, calculated according to ILO methodology declined in the three months to January 63 th – to 2.33 million people.
