Xiaomi Amazfit Cor Review: The Best Fitness Tracker with Color screen
You cannot find a lot of fitness trackers or smartbands with color screen. The main reason is large power consumption and short battery life. Only Apple, Samsung and some other manufacturers release smartwatches with color screen, because they did not care that their watches had to be charged almost two or three times a day. They think that most important is a beautiful picture on the screen.

Many do not understand why it was necessary to use IPS screen in simple smartband. The Xiaomi decided that OLED screen is enough. Design
The first impression surpassed all my expectations. As for the size, Xiaomi Amazfit Cor is larger than Mi Band 2. It is more like a small smartwatch than a classic smartband. The body of Amazfit Cor is made of high-quality plastic with an insert of chrome-plated steel framing the screen. At the base there is a heart rate sensor and two contact areas for magnetic charging.
I will note that the case of smartband is completely sealed and allows you to dive to a depth of 50 meters. The strap of the sports bracelet is made of rubber. It is very comfortable to wear, does not cause misting hands, does not slip and allows you to accurately choose the size.
The lock excludes the drop of the band from the hand, even if it is accidentally undone. If necessary, the strap can be removed and changed to another.
Display
The screen has a size of 1.23-inch. It is protected by 2.5D glass Gorilla Glass 3. The screen has large viewing angles and excellent brightness. Even with a brightness of 60%, the screen is good visible in the street at any angle. The following photo shows the screen under studio lighting.
Xiaomi Amazfit Cor has comfortable control. The smartband is equipped with a touch screen with support for swipe. Also it has an additional touch button. The screen is used to navigate through the main functions of the bracelet, turning the screens, etc.
As for the touch button, it is used to activate the screen and turn off the training mode. Why the manufacturer didn’t implement these functions through the touch screen? The fact is that these functions exclude randomness. You can not allow the screen to be activated every time you accidentally touch it with your hand. This will lead to a rapid discharge of the battery. The screen should be turned on only if the user has a meaningful action, which should momentarily attach a finger to the touch button.
By the way, you can activate the screen with the help of a classic hand gesture, when you want to see the time. To do this, raise your wrist and hold it for 1-2 seconds. Also it is very useful function during training routine, because you don’t need to touch the button. You must hold your finger for a few seconds.
Functions
The functionally of Xiaomi Amazfit Cor is a combination of a fitness band and smartwatch. The interface supports English, but all notifications are displayed in English, and other languages. As already mentioned above, the basic control of the bracelet is swipe on the touch screen. For example, a swipe down the main opens “Do Not Disturb” menu. Swipe to the right – returns to the previous screen, and upward opens the main menu, which includes functions for viewing the current status, last notifications, weather, training mode, alarm, timer or stopwatch, and go to settings.
By the way, using the mobile application MiFit you can change the functions and their order in the main menu. For example, if notifications are more important to you, they you can put them on the first place.
In general, there are five design options available. For several variants, several color schemes are available.
In addition, the setup menu includes the function of an additional screen lock, which allows you to activate the device only with a double tap on the touch button and swipe up, the phone search function, brightness changes, restart and reset the device, as well as view information about the current firmware version. All additional settings are performed using Mi Fit app.
Let’s talk about the real functions of Xiaomi Amazfit Cor. The smartband is very similar to the same MiBand 2. It counts the steps, measures the heart rate, the distance, the number of calories burned and the time in the sitting position. In addition, the smartband analyzes the quality of sleep, but this information is displayed only in MiFit application.
It is also possible to include information about incoming calls and SMS. If you do not want the smartband receive notifications, for example, during sleep, you can use Do Not Disturb function. You can activate it in manual mode or automatically as soon as you fall asleep.
The interesting function is training mode. In this mode, the smartband monitors your physical activities and gives recommendations.
During the workout, you can pause or watch the time, without discarding the current result. At the end of the workout, you can see the result, the maximum and minimum heart rate. This mode can be used for any type of training, including skiing and swimming. The main thing is to understand your load level and control it with Amazfit Cor.
The following functions make Xiaomi Amazfit Cor more like a smartwatch. First of all, the weather informer, displaying not only the weather for today, but also for the next four days. In my opinion, it is very convenient.
The alarm clock is another useful feature of Xiaomi Amazfit Cor. The alarm time is set in MiFit, and the activation of the desired alarm clock can be performed directly from the smartband. It is very convenient.
Also, there is built-in timer. Let’s say you set up cooking a dish and, in order not to forget about it, just set the cooking time directly on the bracelet and go to do other things.
Battery
Speaking about battery life of Xiaomi Amazfit Cor, the smartband works on one charge for up to two weeks in a relatively active usage scenario. In a more economical scenario, you can count on 20 days.
Pros and Cons
It’s time to make a conclusion. First, I want to say some words about IPS screen in Amazfit Cor. In terms of battery, it is only slightly inferior to OLED screen in Mi Band 2. At the same time, its large size and color, which changed the perception of information, completely compensate for slightly more power consumption. Secondly, do not even think about comparing Xiaomi Amazfit Cor and MiBand 2. These are completely different gadgets. Amazfit Cor has much richer functionality, and it is very convenient to use. Xiaomi Mi Band 2 seems like a simple watch with beautiful digits. Actually, that’s why Amazfit Cor costs $70, but it’s worth it.
