Xiaomi Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus:  Design

As you already understood, the main feature of new Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus are full screen design and 18:9 aspect ratio. Both devices received thin bezels on the top and bottom of front panel.

By the way, touch-sensitive hardware buttons also disappeared, because there was simply no place for them. New phones have on-screen keys. However, now almost all manufacturers are doing it, and only Huawei is trying hard to keep Home button with  built-in fingerprint reader under the screen.

Xiaomi Redmi 5 vs 5 Plus: Differences

New smartphones have almost the same design, however they also have significant differences. Redmi 5 Plus model is very similar in design to Redmi Note 4X, which uses an aluminum back panel with small polycarbonate inserts at the top and bottom.

At the same time, Redmi 5 has a one-piece plastic case, in which a metal plate is mounted, while it is not removable. It should be noted that the rear cover Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus is based on the principle of axial symmetry, which can now be observed in all smartphones series Redmi Note.

Also, Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus are not really full-screen, because they have bezels on right and left sides. Redmi 5 is larger in size than any previous Redmi phone, and Redmi 5 Plus is similar to any device from Redmi Note series. In any case, new phones look amazing!
