Xiaomi Redmi Note 5: All We Know so Far – Photos, Specs, Price, Release date
Internet has many rumors about upcoming bezel-less budget phone Xiaomi Redmi Note 5. You can find a lot of devices with such displays, including budget. But they are still perceived rather as “Wow, cool!” than as “What happens differently?”.
After all, if you think about it, there was not really good budget bezel-less smartphone. Yes, there are a lot of flagships, but they are expensive – everyone knows about them, but not everyone can afford them. Perhaps Honor 7X is one of the best options under $300, but it is still sold only in China. LG, Doogee, Oukitel and other companies that have produced inexpensive full screen have too little market share.
Xiaomi can make hits in budget segment. You can take at least Xiaomi Redmi Note 3, which became in 2016 the most popular smartphone in many markets around the world. The company uses good hardware, makes good optimization of software, and set a low price tag. So, we think that Xiaomi should release budget bezel-less smartphone to change the market forever and forget about regular phones with big bezels.

Xiaomi Redmi Note 5: Display
The display is exactly as it should be. Probably, for a smartphone from series Redmi Note it will be more logical to have a diagonal of 5.99 inches, given bezel-less design. Xiaomi also plans to make Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus with screens 18:9. Most likely, 5.5 inches is about them. But who knows, maybe the Chinese have their own logic. It would be cool if Redmi Note 5 will have 5.5-inch, and Redmi 5 – 5-inch. 5 inches without bezels – it’s great!
Redmi Note 5: Hardware
Of course, everyone would like to see Snapdragon 660 as a chipset. But it is hard to believe that it will be used in budget smartphone, even if it’s Xiaomi. But Snapdragon 630 is also a very good processor. It has 8 cores Cortex-A53, graphics Adreno 510, 14-nanometer process technology. I recently tested Moto Z2 Play on Snapdragon 626, and it has very good performance.
Helio P25 is also an eight-core chip on Cortex-A53 cores. It has a higher frequency (2.5 GHz vs. 2.2 GHz), but the process technology is older, 16 nanometers. In general, it is also a good platform. It is unlikely that you have any problems with it.
Someone talks about Snapdragon 625, but it will not be, because the maximum screen resolution supported by it is 1900 x 1200, while Redmi Note 5 will have 2160 x 1080.
3GB of RAM is not enough for the end of 2017 and even for 2018. I think there is no 3GB version, or it will be the cheapest modification. The same thoughts about 16 GB of internal memory.
Redmi Note 5: Camera
As for the cameras, there will be two options: either one 12-megapixel sensor, or a dual with unknown specs. Most likely, we are waiting for the second scenario, because all renders of the phone has two cameras on the back. Perhaps the 12-megapixel sensor will be the main one in this tandem. Firstly, we are talking about a smartphone for $230, and secondly, even Xiaomi Mi6 has not the best camera.

Xiaomi will definitely not be the first and even one of the first companies to make a budget bezel-less smartphone. Even LG does not have big success with LG Q6, not to mention other Chinese manufacturers.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5: Price and release date
Xiaomi will definitely not become the company that will make the cheapest full screen smartphone. Oukitel C8 costs about $100, and it is impossible to compete. But Xiaomi can make the most optimal budget smartphone with 18:9 display. Judging by rumors, it will be so. We are waiting for the release Xiaomi Redmi Note 5.
